I'm as big a fan of Pearl as any, but if he does not get tougher on his guys and come up with an offense that involves more than one off the ball screen on the baseline, we are going to continue to get beat like this. You can't pass the ball back and forth up top for 25 seconds then try and go one-on-one to the basket, it doesn't work.

While we are kicking him out...how about we get rid of Pat too. I mean c'mon!! She didn't even get a top 4 seed in the tourney. She's got to go!!!!

Oh excellent logic....because one would think if Memphis got their seed only because of their weak conference, then they'd probably be like Pittsburgh and never get past the Sweet 16.

Unfortunately for your brilliant hypothesis, they actually end up beating pretty good teams to get pretty far. So while you can complain all day about their conference, you can't deny their results. Unless you just like to sound stupid.

You would have never seen a summit team play like that. At least without getting a few butt chewings. I just get tired of the "Street ball" crap. Play as a team. We really need better guard play. We just have no kind of rythm on offense. Sad. Sucks!

We lost all three of our starting guards from last season and west never made it here. What did you expect from a Juco and Tabb? We knew this team was weak at guard and yet we are upset that they didn't advance or play better. Amazing.

These guys saying Pearl should be fired, KEEP DREAMING!!!! Won't happen. You guys seriously need to evaluate yourself and get your whole mental state checked. So yes I am questioning your fanhood.

Pearl's never going to win a title, but at least UT gets to the NCAAs every year, one and done or not. That's a big accomplishment compared to the losers UT had coaching before.

Anybody who thinks BP should be fired is an idiot. Maybe you should look at the records before BP got here and you might reconsider your thoughts. For those of you who think he should go, who do think would replace him. Remember UT basketball is nowhere near the level of UT football.

I said earlier. In the last year, these three coaches have gotten us 0 NC - I mean Kiffin too, he hasn't even coached a game yet! That's not what we're paying him for. Either coach or get out -

Tie em to a rail and ship em all out to the west coast I say.

Summitt is one of the more underrated female basketball coaches in the country, IMO.

Most of us aren't saying that Pearl should be fired or anything. It's just that, as his body of work builds, his limitations as a coach are becoming pretty apparent. We've now had four years and two cycles of players to judge, and it's pretty clear that no Pearl-coached team is ever likely to A) play good half-court defense, or B) have a coherent plan in the half-court offense. And it's unclear how we can expect to ever play deep into March if those are your two weak spots.

Maybe being competitive and getting into the tournament ought to be enough for UT basketball fans right now. But eventually it won't be.

(And for what it's worth, I was a student who went to a lot of basketball games during the Wade Houston Era. So it's not like I take getting to the tourney for granted or anything.)

Good post. I'm with you, it's all good right now but with 1) more salary increases and 2) same consistent problems as you mentioned, will all these fans still be as patient?

Kevin O'Neil asked me to walk on because I "look tall enough to block shots decently". That was after his curse-ridden "pep talk" to the Pride at band camp when he called his own team several different foul things. Believe me, I remember suckage.

Question for you (and I'm agreeing with your post): Shouldn't assistant coaches help with that situation? If he does have an acknowledged weakness, shouldn't he shore up the team by hiring someone to teach that concept?
