Kellie was hired late in the recruiting process in her first year, and in the second year, there were no campus visits, or face to face visits with players. This year is only the second year of normal recruiting. We’re recruiting against long established Coaches, and it takes time to catch up. We just lost close back to back games against teams ranked 2 and 3 in the country. If we play them again, we could win. The team hasn’t quit, just some posters here.
Like LSU’s OOC schedule? I’d say 5 or 6 fewer.Yes, most of this has been said a hundred times so I am not going to rehash all that. You could have just gone down a couple threads and read basically the same comments you wrote.
Coach Kellie did very well in the portal last year. Got the best player available and the #1portal class. Much to early to talk about the portal this coming year.
Coach Kellie needs an OOC schedule like LSU had this year and then many fans will be singing her praises as we will have 2 or fewer losses going into SEC play.
Of the 13 players on the team, they lose 6.
It didn’t take Niele Ivey long to catch up and her coaching resume was less than CKHKellie was hired late in the recruiting process in her first year, and in the second year, there were no campus visits, or face to face visits with players. Assuming this lineup and that the extra year players opt not to return, there is really a huge need for an upgrade at PG, PF and a quality backup center. Guess we know what Kellie will be portal shopping for. There are 16 players on the roster. 6 will graduate but some could use an extra year of eligibility if they wanted to come back (e.g., Key). Players could transfer out, others could transfer in. Next year's current depth chart (players with an extra year if they want it in parentheses):
PG: Powell, Miles, E. Darby
SG: T. Darby, Wynn (Horston, Rennie)
SF: Puckett, Pissott (Jackson)
PF: Striplin, Suarez
C: Hollingshead (Key)
Ivey was on staff at ND as an assistant, then associate Head Coach from 2007 through 2019, before becoming HC in 2020. She had twelve years to meet and recruit the players ND wanted, before she became HC.It didn’t take Niele Ivey long to catch up and her coaching resume was less than CKH
The future of the Lady Vols 2023 basketball team does not look good. The current team was picked to be #4 and has lost 8 games with two more probable loses (SC and SEC Tournament) and are out of the top 25. Of the 13 players on the team, they lose 6. HoopsGurls rates the top 100 women players. The LV was able to sign only 1 player from the 2022 list and have absolutely none committed from the 2023 list. Where will they get good players as replacements.? There will be some players available from transfers, but these will be players that did not make it on their current teams. In reality, the LV team for 2023 may even be worse than the 2022 team. The LV are the only womens team to have played in every NCAA championship since 1982. There is a possibility that they might miss the championship tournament this year. Coach Harper has not produced results consistent with the traditional Lady Vols teams. There have been numerous complaints against Coach Harper on this website and more will come with the potential coming losses. In summation, the Lady Vols for 2023 look worse than the 8 loss (10 losses before the season is ended). It is to the point that a coaching change must be considered to get the LV back among the top teams.
Kellie had a much better start, fans here might have gone ballistic if she had begun like CB.Banghart seems to be doing ok...

CB’s record at NC is: 1st year, 16-14, 2nd year, 13-11, 3rd year, 25-7, 16-5 so far, this year.
KH’s record at TN is: 1st year, 21-10, 2nd year, 17-8, 3rd year, 25-9, 16-8 so far, this year, against one of the toughest schedules in the country. We have already played teams ranked, 2,3,4, and 5, in the country.
You're bringing in an overall record comparison between KH and CB, when your initial point was about why you think Kellie should be given more grace with recruiting.
Banghart and Harper were dealt the exact same hand with lack of campus visits and face-to-face interactions due to COVID. Both are in year 4 as P5 coaches. Yet, CB has been able to get verbals and signatures from top HS talent. And outside of Justine, Kellie hasn't.
Despite two rocky seasons for CB, she's not having an issue getting 5* HS talent to commit to UNC. Do you not think CB has been the better recruiter of HS talent?
No, I was responding to Darth’s comment. You're bringing in an overall record comparison between KH and CB, when your initial point was about why you think Kellie should be given more grace with recruiting.

I do think CB has done well recruiting high school talent, and done less with it.You're bringing in an overall record comparison between KH and CB, when your initial point was about why you think Kellie should be given more grace with recruiting.

Done here, don’t have time to answer each poster who wanted someone different, and starts this conversation every 6 months or so. Each still wants their guy/gal, whether it was Walz, CB, KL, or someone else. Some are TN fans, and some are not, but they were only loyal to the one they wanted, not our Coach.
