I hope you aren’t killed. I am 100% behind Kellie but I wouldn’t care whether a coach was a male or female.Do I think men are better coaches than women --- big NO. Do I think Pat was the best coach man or woman ever----absolutely.
Having said that, I think any woman we hire will always be compared to Pat. It may be time to have a man coach to step out of her shadow.
I know I am going to get killed for this, but I said what I said.
So your talking about Candace Parker, Kara Lawson at best and most of the others either don't want to coach or are coaching bad teams right now. Lawson not having a great season at Duke thus far and Parker has never coached even though I think she could. I know she could recruit. They need someone up there thats a former player under Pat Summit that's been in the WNBA and won championships in college and at the pro level. But also someone who can recruit any payer in the top 20 in the nation and also the top female junior cllege players.....That **** on the HILL is a absolute disgrace to the program that Pat Summit built literally from the ground up Get Harper the **** out of there and hire a black women's coach up there on the HILL that's played for Pat Summit before. These other "coaches" i've seen listed above have absolutely nothing to do with the Lady Vols program. Keep it in house and fix it!

I sort of agree with the comparison to Pat thing in that Holly probably had the worst situation in the history of first head coaching jobs. I don’t know how long that comparison to Pat thing hangs on.
Holly was the best coach for the moment. All Kellie had to do was be better than Holly. Holly did the hard part of following the legend. You never want to be the coach following the legend coach, you can never live up to the expectations. But Pat anointed her so there she was. Kellie comes in having played for Pat so she has some of the same expectations. Next coach needs to have no ties to LVols or Pat.
She did well with Pats players couldn't do much with her on. Kellie didn't inherit a good roster or culturr and hasn't been able to build one a good roster since although she did get the culture back under control. Holly would still be here if she could've kept the sweet sixteens going. She somehow got in the tourney with a 7 and 9 SEC record went out quickly. We still don't know how that team got in the tourney. Kellie looks to be headed toward that kind of season and then we can start over next season with someone new again.Holly was the best coach for the moment. Pat was a shell of herself the last two years. Those teams should probably fall under Holly but Pat was the “Head Coach” just in name. She did well with Pats players couldn't do much with her on. No problem saying that is true. I do know the recruiting started going south in Holly's last three seasons a little worse each one. We haven't done anything much in Kellie's five other than the portal. Holly did leave her Horston and Key which without them she probably would not be her now.Pat was a shell of herself the last two years. Also left her Burrell and Rennia Davis…who Kellie gets credit for their WNBA draftNo problem saying that is true. That team did some good things beat Indiana on the road. I think we had a third place SEC finish. I agree overall was far more talent on that team than the current one. Just wasn't a lot of depth off the bench that could really play. Also left her Burrell and Rennia Davis…who Kellie gets credit for their WNBA draft
Dumbest post of the thread. Why not hire the best coach regardless of who it is?They need someone up there thats a former player under Pat Summit that's been in the WNBA and won championships in college and at the pro level. There's certain coaches you should never want to follow at certain Universities...If the UTAD wants to stay true to CPS's vision, a woman HC would be a priority and that does not mean they would not be the "best" candidate. There are lots of great woman coaches out there and until there is a level playing field (i.e.,, where a woman coach can legitimately compete for a D! men's job, I think there is a good case for prioritizing a woman head coach at the program CPS built as a launch pad for women's athletics.
But, I think it is high time to loosen the "Tennessee ties" requirement if and when, a new coach is hired.
