FootballScoop reporting Florid officials flying back to Gainesville without Kelly or a done deal. Kelly is reportedly set to meet with UCLA tomorrow.

The internet is the worst.

UCLA/PAC 12 is where Kelly wants to go. He knows the SEC is not the fit for him. I heard he was waiting to see if UCLA opened up. I think he looks at Miami FSU UCF and USF as a challenge in recruiting in Florida and he hates recruiting to began with. In California USC and UCLA are the big dogs who get the top prospects in the state.

I don’t get why UF think Kelly would be a good get. Sure his name would create buzz, but right now miami is creating results. With the fact that Kelly would be sending his assistants to do the recruiting for him their recruiting wouldn’t get any better than it is now. If you’re a 5* and You got every other SEC head coach wanting to sit in your living room along with jimbo and richt and UF is only sending coordinators who are you signing with?

Chip Kelly doesn’t want the recruiting grind that Florida would bring. He would have it so much easier in California that produces the same if not more amount of talent as Florida. He also wouldn’t want to deal with his best case scenario in dominating the East and getting to coach against saban for a chance to maybe make the playoff.

He could be the west coast saban at UCLA. There is no saban or Meyer in the pac12 and he could be that dominant coach in that conference. As for being second fiddle in the city, well it’s not like USC is tearing it up right now either and a name coach like Kelly could flip that very fast in his favor.

Here is screen shot. I was browsing a hunting forum that has a few gator fans. This was posted. I don't know who CoachE is.

UF can match anything UCLA can offer

They can but going with UCLA would put him a familiar conference where he knows his offense can be successful. I have never spoken with Kelly but have always heard he loves the west coast. The money may not be his driving factor.

Well it could be but he may think of the long term money over the short quick payday. McElwain got fired for losing to saban for the SEC title. Sure chip could make it but with the current roster how long til he could actually field a team that could even compete with Bama? How many blowouts at the hands of saban before the UF faithful get sick of the gimmicky O and want him gone and someone that will play smash mouth football again?

Kelly knows UF would pay a lot for a few years but then what? He also knows at UCLA he would have an easier path to the playoffs and as long as he beat a currently mediocre USC every year he could coach there forever.

So your point may not be compelety valid about money being everything. Maybe it is to him and he knows 5-6 over 10+ years is more than 10 over only 3-4 years.

It's OK UF fans, no harm no foul. Some of us have been through this a few times and can help you sort through the BS. My recommendation is to set up ESPN alerts and sleep easy.

Serious question. Why don’t we also just say “Hey chip, want 10 million a year?” Neither UCLA or UF will beat that offer. It makes me hopeful we may get Gruden, otherwise I have no idea why Kelly isn’t number 1 on the list.

Report: Chip Kelly to meet with UCLA on Monday

After meeting with representatives from the University of Florida Sunday, Chip Kelly will reportedly be meeting with representatives from UCLA Monday to discuss the vacant head coaching position.

Zach Barnett of Football Scoop reported on both these meetings, and Robbie Andreu of The Gainesville Sun confirmed that Florida's representatives left Kelly without a deal in place.
