I, like everyone else I'm sure, am wondering why he is taking visits. It does make me think Oku has seen or heard something that has disconcerted his feelings of UT. I agree, and hope we're all correct, in thinking that Oku welcomes the competition that is inevitable even if we hadn't signed any other backs in this class....we already have a stable on campus.

Hardesty graduates this year and Creer will be a JR, which leaves him with one year left after next season. Tauren Poole will be a sophomore we're not really "that" deep at RB until we can some signatures.

Daryl Vareen...I know he was moved to D some but remember we're starting off fresh so he might be back in the backfield...even without him that's 4 returners Oku has to compete with not to mention Toney and anybody else that might jump on board...keep in mind I didn't say we had a "USC" stable of RB's, but it's still a nice group of backs.

As I said on another thread. IMO, I think these kids should take their visits. Many of them don't have the means or opportunity to travel and see a bit of the country. You never know what the future holds and they may not get another chance. Anyway, once the whole process is over, very soon, there wont be time for them to do much of anything except go to class, go to practice and study. For the ones that stick it out the next three to four years may just be the busiest time of their lives.

Sorry, I know I strayed a bit off path there...

I was going to put something about the OKST connection in my above post, and that's probably it. It's the Trooper connection.

BTW, Oku is now listed as a soft verbal on Rivals. I didn't see that mentioned anywhere. Still, I'm not concerned. He'll be a Vol.

I could very possibly see us getting Oku, Toney Williams, Lacy, and Hardy.... That would be sweet. Not to mention the RB recruits we might get next year after a full year on the recruiting trail.

Don't forget our big back, Williams.

New article on GVX on Hardy.

“It went well,” Hardy said. “They have a good program up there.”

Hardy said he spent much of his time at UT visiting with Kiffin.

“He told me about when they watched my film they liked how I run the ball with enthusiasm,” Hardy said, recalling the Kiffin conversation. “Like nobody could stop me. We talked about academics and taking care of that.”

Hardy still committed to Southern Miss, but UT closing in : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

“I’m probably just going to wait until signing day (on Feb. 4 to announce a decision),” Hardy said. “It all depends on how things go. My parents and I are going to think about it and talk about it.”

I think Oku will be fine. I think with the new coaching staff if these kids want PT they are going to have to man up, bust their tails, and work for it just like all the other players. That is the only way we are going to build depth at every position to keep up a high level of play through all 4 quarters of the game.

did anyone see Hardy get any carries in the Army game?

I missed the game and have been unable to find any highlights.

I watched maybe 10 minutes in 30 second increments and everytime it seemed as it either B. Brown or T. Boyd were making some kind of play....to answer your ? ...no I didn't catch Hardy at all.

I got something to say about Hardy after watching his highlight videos.

Unfair or not, Hardy is the next Arien Foster.

He hardly ever runs between the tackles. Most of his carries are sweeps to the side. Now, that being said, he appears to be faster than Foster and is more highly rated than Foster was out of highschool. Not dissing either of them. Foster had some very good games and if Hardy could be more consistent than Foster was, then he could be utilized in our offense since Foster is gone.

Oku is the fast, illusive scat back, big playmaker.
Toney Williams, runs like a bulldozer and picks up large chunks .
Taureen Poole, short down and goaline
Hardesty, the work horse
Creer, playmaker, every down back
Hardy, Arien Foster without the fumbles hopefully

Just my take but even a blind man can see the comparisions. Regardless, UT would be deep at RB with all 6 bringing something different to the run game.

GV, Creer needs to show me his hands before I'll go along with him be an every down back. But, I like Creer.

I think he probably ends up staying close to home and going to So. Miss but, who knows. The depth chart at RB is prob. a lot thinner in Hattiesburg.
