Not really, it still is a case of numbers, quality points achieved and hours attempted, no matter who is calculating. In other words, his achieving what he needed, based on his ability and past performance, was impossible. He isn't/wasn't going to go from a sub C student to middle of the pack C based on his academic history.

I totally agree. So why did he make it past the NCAA clearinghouse, when we've seen much less questionable turnarounds get flagged and held up?

Not to jump in front of Brian, but yeah. She is has been promoted several times, but the official position she holds now is "Associate Athletics Director". Compliance falls under that, to my knowledge.

From what I've heard she is all business. If I was a KY fan I would be less concerned with the grade issues, and more concerned about the improper benefits with the HS coach.

Yeah, she was recently awarded this past February for her 17 years of service in the compliance department. She has really stepped it up since coming in not long after the Eddie Sutton debacle.

And you're right, the grades are the least of my concern. The rent paid by the coach (if proven) will be the kicker.

It's not about what you think, it's about what you can prove. Cal does a good job of insulating himself in these situations.

I couldn't care less about what happens to Cal in all this. I just need SOMETHING to happen so Cal will leave town... and all those recruits.

So I guess this settles the question on whether Cal is heading off to the NBA or not.
Trouble arises=Cal Runs.

I'm not saying that any of those schools legitimately dropped Bledsoe nor guessing what their reasoning for doing so was. I'm just saying that they are claiming this. Maybe Cal just figured that he already had a very stellar class and he could take a risk on a kid that may or may not qualify and that's all he had to do with it. Maybe there was more to it. As of now, Cal is still at UK, UK still reached the same point in the tournament last year on the books, and Bledsoe is about to make alot of money in the NBA.

Something else interesting that just came out:

Now this is where it starts to get interesting. A source within the media tells me that a College Assistant Coach leaked Bledsoe’s transcripts to multiple media outlets, including his own. This follows the assumption of many in the Bledsoe camp who have assumed since the story broke that the person who leaked the transcripts was an Assistant coach in college basketball. My source would not tell me the name of the Assistant Coach and was also not certain that the coach was the same individual who leaked to Pete Thamel and the New York Times, but he confirmed that a College Assistant is the source of Bledsoe’s leaked transcripts to other media outlets.

After doing my own research and talking to a number of people on the issue, I believe I know who the Assistant Coach is who leaked the transcripts. However I dont believe I have enough solid information to put the name out there. Suffice to say that the number of suspects of who it could be is quite small. Eric Bledsoe’s Junior year transcripts were given to only three schools, Florida, Kentucky and Memphis. His Senior year transcripts were given to only two schools, Kentucky and Memphis. However that does not mean that it is certain an individual from one of these schools leaked the transcripts to the media, as the leaker may have been gotten the transcripts from an individual at one of these schools, or even originally from Bledsoe’s high school. However my source tells me that the leak to the media comes from a college Assistant coach, and one with a connection to either Bledsoe or with animosity to Calipari.

Talk about a light bulb coming on at the right time. That is a miraculous recovery. The staff at that school needs to be commended and should share their secrets with others in the profession.

I don't see why a high school coach paying a player's rent affects you guys unless the money originated with you. Regardless of why the kid is retroactively ineligible, if that's what it comes to, it seems like any penalty for UK would be the same.
