Kentucky down by 18 to Miami (OH)

Yeesh,
The reading comprehension here is weak. I think this may also be the second time you have tried to pick a fight with me about someone else's quote. I did not call Cal average. I have called him scummy before, but not average.

Perhaps if you properly quoted people, he wouldn't assume that it was your work.

As I think more about it, losing this game would have been a good thing in the long run. This game proved that If you don't come out with your A game, ESPECIALLY on defense, your going to lose. No matter who it is your playing.

All these spoon fed freshmen have to learn these lessons before this team gets any better. I think this game will teach them alot of it, and we were just fortunate to come out with the W instead of a loss.

Losing to also rans doesn't help. Awakening the team and winning tight ones does help.

He's made how many? 2? with about a 10 year gap?

I believe for 4 of those seasons his teams were not eligible, as they were NBA squads. He then took over a .500 mid-major and was winning 30+ games and fielding national contenders on a regular basis in very short order.

UMASS had one of the worst winning percentages in D-I for the ten years preceding John's hiring.

Cal just wishes his resume looked like Keno Davis' or Bruce Pearl's.

That's two more than one guy I can think of that people around here try to pass off as a combination of Ghandi, John Wooden, Elvis, and Christ.

I don't. But as far as great coaches go, Cal isn't sniffing great. Great recruiter? Maybe, but I think the amazing talent of the two lottery picks on his roster both those years deserve most of the credit, not his coaching.

And by the way, I just checked the record books. I don't see any evidence that Cal has ever made it to the final 4.

Great recruiter. That's all. Nothing more.

 Lame.

I limited my discussion to the "gap" between final fourse, but you are correct; the guy has a track record of building winners.

I have never understoond this reasoning. If a guy keeps winning, wherever he goes in the college ranks, he's good. Recruiting is such a large portion of college coaching, it makes no sense to try and separate it from any evaluation.

Cal built powerhouses at Memphis and UMass. What more evidence do you need?

He made it to how many Elite Eights? Just keep telling us how good garbage like flavor of the day Keno Davis is. We can always use a good laugh.

When did I mention Keno Davis? UMass had some history when Cal took over and he took a good opportunity and took Umass a step further. You're making it seem like Cal took over Fat Albert and the gang's neighborhood team and turned them into 8 time defending national champs.

Why don't you keep telling us how Billy Gillespie is going to turn Kentucky into national champions this season with Deandre Liggins running the point.

A good opportunity? Pull UMASS's records for the 10 years preceding John's hiring and tell me what a great job that was to take. Also, we'll see where BCG is in five years and where Tom Davis' retard spawn is. One will have a good job and making the NCAA with regularity, while the other will be following in his father's footsteps at some meaningless jerkwater outpost subjecting fans to the garbage system that family has foisted on the basketball public for nearly 40 years now.
