Kentucky lost again

I'm not guaranteeing a win (and you clearly know more about the sport than I do), but, if we don't beat them next week or in the tournamnent, it'll be the first season since Barnes arrived that we haven't beaten Kentucky.

Yes, even in 2020 when I would have never thought we would have at Rupp we did. But the fact that Barnes has the most wins at Rupp of any UT coach and it's 3 tells me how much we struggle to win there.

I just hope our fans don’t take that game lightly like the first round in January. Yet again, we’ll be facing a reeling Kentucky team desperate for signature wins just to get in the tournament. And this time it’s on their home court. It’s going to be a brutally difficult game.

I'm not taking it lightly at all, I never take a game at Rupp lightly. In my lifetime we've won 5 games there, and 3 have been with Barnes.

I’m kind of pulling for the Blue. I hate everything about UGA and don’t want them to have the satisfaction of getting the win.

Calipari probably has the hottest seat in the country right now and this is the first time since the 1989-1990 season that Kentucky has lost two in a row in Athens.

Just stating that Mears and Barnes and DeVoe are the only three Tennessee coaches that have enjoyed a lot of success against Kentucky in this long rivalry.

After Mears was 15-15 then Devoe was holding serve in Knoxville. There was a thing called the Stokely Curse. Then that TBA Mistake by Fort Loudon Lake was built and things went south.

Maybe that’s true with their fans, but his contract pretty much makes him untouchable unless he does something stupid off the court to get fired for cause.

I think Cal goes to Texas....the worst kept secret in the college basketball world.

At this point, all sides would like that move.

He would do well at Texas with their in-state talent and triple NIL big oil budget.

Who do you think Kentucky would look at to replace him?

Cal ain’t going anywhere this off-season. Not happening! He has one of the best recruiting classes in the history of recruiting rankings coming to Kentucky next season. He’s going to stay one more year and see what he can do with that squad, and if that squad fails and doesn’t meet expectations then he might leave.

Not saying you’re wrong, but a couple thoughts…

Who knows what’s open next year, Texas can and will make him highest paid coach in the country, not many will. Texas also has a willingness to fund NIL at any level needed, Kentucky has been having some issues with NIL. And most of those kids likely would follow him to Texas if he put together a nice deal, not all but most.

Do you think Rodney Terry has zero chance at the job? I know he wouldn’t be the sexiest hire, but he’s doing a really admirable job navigating that tough situation at Texas this year.

Like you said, I could be proven wrong. Nothing is a guarantee and I’m not going to be shocked if it does happen. I just think Cal will probably see if he can strike gold with this class at Kentucky and then go from there. Should make for an interesting off-season though!
