Kentucky Now #1 on Rivals...

I'm sure there will be idiots predicting 10-2 or beating Bama, etc etc. There always is.

I was referring to current commits and future recruits.

There's a long way to signing day and it's hard to carry that momentum through a losing season.

Ok, I wasn't sure what kiddies meant lol.

Same for UT. I'm interested in what both 2015 and later classes look like after 1/2 seasons.

You said 4-8 would be good for UK

It would be an extreme disappointment if UT had a losing season this year.

Not even a comparison other than current recruiting rankings.

Stars are nice but offer lists tell more IMO. The guys putting stars by peoples names don't make the bucks or have the knowledge of the guys giving the offers. If you discount offers from Kentucky...Orlando Brown has almost as many SEC offers as Kentucky's entire class. We offered 3 of the 18. Barker, Jared Tucker-DB, and Stanley Williams-APB. I imagine we cooled on Williams when Paulk committed.

Yep, keep that in mind, Butch needs to get as many on board before the season starts as he can. But it's not impossible to get a great recruiting class with a bad record, Alabama was #1 and was 6-7 and UGA was #3 when they went 6-7.

how many can UK take this year? they currently have 18 commits with a 3.22 avg star rating. they are going to need to take a lot like us. and they need more 4/5* if they wanna end with a high ranked class. (same with us.. we have 3.38 avg star rating)

You're right there. If we can get 30 signees I find it hard to believe we won't be top 5 regardless of record. I still think Butch will finish with 7 wins though.

Most of their class isn't from the south, they have hit Ohio hard this year so that would make sense that we haven't offered the same kids. KY needs to hit OH, TN needs to hit GA, NC, and VA.

Is our 3.38 much better?

I would say yes. I think the top ten or so teams usually end up somewhere around a 3.5-3.6. We are in on several more 4* guys that will probably put is in that range. JMO

The life I live is a lie. UK is #1 in recruiting.

On a serious note consider this... Everything that you say about UK's class potentially applies to ours based on both programs' lack of success.

Considering we got Butch, though, I aint skerred.

The situation they've been in the last few years is really tough. UT fans are desperate for winning. Recruiting is coming back but it isn't what it could be. It's a very tough job. Probably a lot of pressure. Let's say Butch goes 5-7, 6-6. What are fans saying?
Whereas at UK Stoops going the same record would be a major improvement over Joker and fans would be happy (not completely happy, but relieved we aren't bottom dwellers).

Recruiting is going great so "isn't what it could be" is only relative after Nat'l Signing Day..With the momentum and progress CBJ has made thus far, "what it could be" is a #1 class, but at the very least a top 10...

As for CBJ going 5-7, ain't gonna happen..6-6? Realistic, but also unlikely to most Vol fans, who I think would be saying it's an improvement over CDD..IMO that is what realistic Vol fans are looking for going forward..Kudos to Stoops and all the recruiting success but UT is and always will be a prime coaching gig..Pressure is part of it and any coach with hopes of competing for championships would love to have the resources UT offers..IMHO The reluctance of accepting the job post-Fulmer and post-Kiffin was more a reflection of the candidates available than the job itself...

Unlike UK, UT has a strong history of success

Look, let UK have their fun with it. I'm sure most of them understand they won't remain at the top. We were elated when we were on top too. Just enjoy the process, its the off season after all.

Butch just left Ohio...where the heck have you been? SEC teams find the top players wherever they are located. Getting a bunch of guys with offers from only Mac schools ain't cutting the mustard no matter how many stars are by a kids name.

18 commitments and a 3.22 star average. Quantity, not quality. Only reason they are #1 is because they have so many more commits than most schools.

Why wasn't this logic used when UT was ranked #1 a couple of weeks ago simply because they had more commitments?

Getting wound up about recruiting rankings is dumb enough. Getting wound up about recruiting rankings 8 months before signing day is insane!

Ummm, no. Several experts are predicting an awful season for Tennessee and the current team isn't talented at all. Still no impressive qb, no name receivers and no RB. A thin LB corps and one of the worst secondaries in Tennessee history. A bowl game of any sort will be marked as high achievement for us this year.

For a brand new coach and having a new qb, new wrs, new rb...4-8 wouldn't be an "extreme disappointment".

This is the type of fan that I referred to in my earlier post....unrealistic expectations. You might get to 7 wins if you win a bowl game, but I'd get ready for 5-7 with a new coach and staff and talent that's not much improved over last year. Your incoming class will not be able to contribute in a meaningful way.
