Kentucky vs Florida (@ the Swamp)

Kind of like when Kelvin Taylor was already tackled and about to get up and a KY player speared him on the ground?????:hi:

Yup. That would have been 15 yards and a 1st to keep that drive going.

Vols have gotten use to others beating UF and moral victories.

That UK d-lineman should have been ejected for targeting.

Yes, it was a dirty hit.

I am guessing that they didn't eject him because the ref did not blow the whistle until very late, which was the trend early in the game. And of course, players are taught to play through to the whistle.

After that, they were much quicker to blow plays dead.

All the people in this thread talking about how we can't take UK lightly this year seem to be of the mindset that we haven't had tough games with them every year for like, a decade now.

In the context of why some folks are complaining about the 4th down play in OT, it certainly was your point.

That call, or non-call, had a direct bearing on the game's outcome.

Any inference that I was referring to that call/non-call is mistaken.

Bad call or not, UK should have put a body on the receiver.

Agreed, but I cant give you a pass for going back two decades and three coaching staffs to bring up bad officiating in what was likely a 73-7 blowout.

I think the SEC actually explained this very well.

Florida delay of game against Kentucky? SEC says refs followed protocol - SBNation.com

The back judge looks at the play clock. When it hits zero, he looks at the ball and throws his flag if it's stationary but not if it's moving. So, they could have started to snap it in the little bit of time it took the referee to turn from the clock to the ball. That means they were given a little bit more than 40 seconds, but if every play of every game is administered like that, then it's not unfair.

Did you watch the game? Those refs did everything possible to give KY an advantage..kats just didn't do their part in the end.

Really have to agree with this. But they did miss that huge one at the end. But the blame lies on our guys for dropping catches and int's.

That 4 ot game hurt so bad :thud:

You should be use to it by now. After all this is football season. One thing you all have going for you is Stoops. I actually like ky. Or use to at least until I found out that earthquake I'd been hopin' for that was gonna sink the entire state of KY was only a TN legend.

The play clock was a very close call. The clock hits zero and it seems like the ball is an instant later through the center's legs. So attributing some time to it traveling there its going to be hundredths of a second either way.

Had it been called dead it might have been a blessing in disguise in that Muschamp admitted after the game that it was caused by coaches not getting the play in fast enough. And he'd be gone.

Honestly, the call could have gone either way and no one could argue.

300 post because the Wildcats played the Gators close....??? Funny part is that they played in the spot normally UT would play on the calendar. So much for the theory playing late would give UT an advantage.... ???

I have noticed a few Gator fans crying on the board and wanting to fire Muschamp or singing the blues. I guess you guys can join the club after two games with a new "O" and pump up the other 300 post. All the experts think that the Wildcats played a great game and improved. In the end they still lost to FL.

Time will tell and a lot of ball games to play.... I'm still wonder why so many UT fans are fired up when their team didn't cover the spread?????

It's off topic and ultimately unimportant but worth mentioning in light of your post that the last time Tennessee and Florida played after October 1st that Tennessee won the game and it was in Florida (2001 34-32 and that was against a good Florida team). That isn't theory, it is fact....We will see what happens next month. Keep thinking that Kentucky is improved if it helps you feel better about your crappy team's performance Saturday.
