Kentucky vs Indiana

Funny, I said the same exact same after Billy Gillispies first few games. Then I said the same exact thing after the season.

The expectations under Gillespie were far higher than Martin's first year. Martin really doesn't have anyone to work with outside of Maymon and occasionally Golden or McRae.

Gillisipie would have been successful at pretty much any other school besides UK. Probably could've been successful if he had had more time too - Cal just fixes things quicker through cheating in recruiting.

..and by running off a good portion of the roster he inherits.

Gillispie upon taking job: "These are my guys."

Cal upon taking job: Your scholly is not being renewed.

Something wrong with cleaning house? They were awful. They didnt lose a job, they just simply transferred. And the main one that Cal wouldnt allow on the team ended up going to Okla State and became a rapist that was starting fights on the team. So far he's done a great job with UK.

By the way---Who were you referring to? "Running off a good portion of the roster"?? I'm all ears.

According to Wiki, these guys were underclassmen on Gillispie's last team and were not rostered the following season. Some of them are probably just walk-ons. I don't work for KY, but on a list of 10, there's likely also a few who signed to play for KY, did what they were asked to do, and left because they weren't good enough for the NBA factory that was about to be scammed together.

They were mostly walk-ons. Gillispie had an odd way of doing things. If you wanted on the team, you're on. He took so many walk-ons that some had to sit on the floor during games, 19 were on the roster. 11 were on last years with Cal. Its so funny, you're naming names and a couple of them I didnt even know were on the team, and I attend a lot of games.

Micheal Porter was leaving the team because he was awful and took too much heat for losing. He was gone regardless, didnt even try out for Cal.

AJ Stewart had a grass smoking problem. He transferred back to Fla and has never been heard of since.

Pilgrim never played at UK. He was a transfer that got the boot from Cal. Many people questioned his exit but after a rape case and in house fights with team members it was no longer a discussion. I could be wrong, but I think he was kicked off Okla States team.

Kevin Galloway- Guilty. I liked him, wish Cal would have kept him. But I'd rather have John Wall anyday. Would you?

I appreciate your info and looking it up. But you originally said "a good portion". I'll give you Galloway, but other than that they were all wise choices. Who needs 10 walk ons? Cal cleaned up a ridiculous mess that was left. If you want to chastise him for something, it cant be for letting all the walk ons go.

You make a good point. There are plenty of other reasons to chastise the guy. No need to worry about side details like punting walk-ons.

He said, "right now." That doesn't include the first 10 games.

So this smoking hot Austin Peay team is going to go on a run and win the next 15-20 games after a 1-9 start? And UK fans are crazy..

I hate to tell you guys, but Austin Peay sucks and beating a lousy UT team doesnt mean they're the one of the best teams in the country.

Just curious, do you guys watch much basketball throughout the year, or just when UT is on?

You need to look at this objectively, bro - AP is hot right now and UK couldn't even begin to slow down their backcourt. I would give UK a slight edge at Rupp... but anyway else and I'll take AP.

Haha some funny stuff in this thread. A couple of you make UK fans look really dumb. It was a good loss for a young team to learn from. Hopefully it will make them better in March.

As an aside, Austin Peay would destroy UK at Rupp or Memorial. They're hot like Hansel right now.

Na I actually think UK could hang at Rupp. Peay's best bet would be to get a big lead early and take the crowd out of it. If they met in Clarksville it's a different story. The noise just goes straight to the court in those smaller gyms and it would be deafening for the Wildcats.

This Austin Peay team isn't the same one who lost #22 Cal early in the season by 18 points. Now that they are heading for conference play I think they got a good chance of winning that and going to the tourney this year.

Agree, but Peay was able to beat UT (A very good team) at our home court, so I don't think loud crowds have much of an effect on them. Their shooters are too good for a little crowd noise to hurt very much.

They're 1-9, or were.

Yeah well not now. The Vols football team was 3-1 earlier this year. And now here we are sitting at home not going to a bowl. Peay just struggled early and right now they are playing like a top 10 team. Haven't you watched their last two games?

Agree to disagree bro. Even at Rupp. Because once #10 big Willie Triggs starts knocking them down from '25, the Govs put the women and children to bed and go looking for dinner. Its all over but the cryin at that point.

I agree, Theyre in the tourney hands down like 6:30. If the committee is smart, they should get a 4-5 seed. UK just better hope they dont see APSU in their bracket.

I heard Rod Wilks is interested in a graduate assistant coaching position with APSU hoops, because football is too easy.
