Kevin Ware Release Granted by Coach Martin

And BP refused to release Smith, correct? I like the CCM approach.

He did but somewhat different circumstances. If I recall correctly, Pearl was concerned about involvement of Chuck Benson in the whole thing. I don't know every detail and heard just a side of it. I actually don't fault Pearl for that, but it created a mess nonetheless.

Sure, Benson was involved, and Tyler's dad was meddling, and who knows what all.

But the bottom line was that Tyler wanted unconditional release, and Bruce wanted him to have a conversation first. Neither would budge, and it came to hard feelings.

It was basically a power struggle.

A good buddy of mine who lives in Kennesaw has been to see Ware several times, he says he's pretty lame as a basketball player, that he's just a lot more athletic than who he's playing with, but as a basketball player he's clueless.

I have no problem with this decision...I'd say Ware is gone though...I wish him all the best. The Vols will press on without him.

Why hasn't CCM already met face to face with his only 2 recruits? Wouldn't that be his first priority when taking the job.

What's the rush if under LOI. Also have to hire staff, move family, media stuff. I would say the urgency would be to get with the guys who haven't signed and are fair game. He also will do better to have full staff in place for recruiting. I think it is possible CCM isn't too high on Ware and wants both to be free to pursue better opportunities if out there.

Forget accountablity. If Ware was commiting to the University of Pearl, he should have had a special LOI that said so and a release wouldn't have been necessary. He's a lucky young man that he was granted a release. It's no shock people run up debt then look to be granted a "release" on their responsibility to pay it back. America - ain't it great?

I think this was right thing for several reasons. Wouldn't UT fans be mad if Martin had a shot with better players but couldn't bring them in due to obligation to Ware? I also think the way Ware was handling it may have factored in the decision. Could signal him being a problem player down the road and could be bad PR which is last thing UT needs
