Ok, smart guy. Here's a bet. In five years, Billy Gillispie will be coaching in the NCAA Tournament. Derrick Doofus will have not coached in an SEC Championship game or played in a bowl game more pretigious than the Capitol One. You name the stakes.

Do both have to occur to win the bet or does only one. I can see BG coaching in the NCAA Tourney but I can also see DD coaching in an SEC Championship Game in the next 5 years.

If both happen, it's a push. If Gillispie hits his marks, I win. If Doofus does the improbable, I lose.

The stakes of your bet equals Dooley being in one of the top 20 bowls in the country...much harder to get into the BCS than it is the NCAA tourney...

i heard they are having trouble with the fax machines. something about excess spam tranmissions preventing them from recieving the LOI from players in an timely fashion

Would you like to wager on that?

I won't make a wager but if you look at Gillispie's amazing career you will see he had a few good seasons with Ac Law running the show. Recruiting was miserable at UK, one for Dooley, and coaching was atrocious, still out on Dooley. He may be a coach somewhere but please please for my own sake DO NOT ever compare anyone involved at UT with Billy Clyde, please. lol

Beating Georgia is a pretty big deal. It will really appear so after Doofus loses four straight to them.

Do you really believe that? He has just landed a much better class than Richt in 3 weeks...I don't think Georgia is going to be unbeatable the next 4 years by any means.

Let me think about it. Agree on the push. I do agree with Sab and the bottle statement. Married to an Alcholic makes one think

Yes. I'm just hoping the K Mart blue light loser we hired can keep us ahead of Kentucky and Vanderbilt in the East.

Fine, I'll drop it to the Outback Bowl.

Better, but I still say making the Chick Fil A bowl is about the equivalent to making the NCAA tourney in the SEC.

On average wouldn't you say 5-6 SEC team make the NCAA Tourney?

So that would mean he would need to get us to one of the 5 or 6 best SEC bowls, factoring in two BCS teams that leaves us around the Cotton, Outback, Chick Fil A mark.

If that is the bet then I will take it in a heart beat.:good!:

Serious question Hat: What are the reasons for the Dooley dissing? You've stated the reasons for your anti-Bruce Pearl fetish numerous times, and I agree with a number of them. But for Dooley you just call him names and call him a Saban lackey. No one will argue with you that he is unproven, but there are a lot of college coaches with similar pedigrees before they get their first major job. If his last two years at La Tech had switched places I don't think people would have much if any problem with the hire.

Hat is only negative because thats what he does. Its his schtick!! He gets you in a war of words that he usually wins. Its what he does. Hes a defense attorney for christ sake. He argues for a living. You have to take it with a grain of salt.

By the way, Hat, you're wrong about Dooley!

Tennessee hired a guy who couldn't get an interview at Memphis. This guy will be an utter disaster. He did less at Louisiana Tech than Gary Crowton. Ask BYU fans how great Crowton was for them. His father is the most overrated coach in SEC history. He'll simply be one of the 10 worst ever.

If Dooley loses four straight to UGA it would be disappointing and extremely surprising considering the series over the last 20 years.

Fair, I am not going to tell you that you are wrong, because I have no proof to support that argument. But, I do have faith that our program with a young determined coach that (hopefully) recruits at a high level will at least make us competitive with the upper teams of the SEC.

Thanks, all I have to go off of is the internet. But hey since I am idiot cause I looked at rivals why don't we just keep this thread going so everyone can throw a punch at my stupidity.

You can join this guy. \/

I find it very satisfying that USC is ranked outside of the top 10 now per Rivals. All that X has done is lose a commitment, maybe didn't fit their system, while Dooley is rolling in some good players and we are now ranked 7th on Rivals.

It won't surprise me one bit. Sun Belt quality coaches don't do well in the SEC.
