kiffin to FAU

Now that he's no longer at Bammer I wish him nothing but the...well actually just nothing. Hopefully, we never see him at Neyland again. Will be interesting what assistants will go to FAU to coach under him.

Would be nice if Martinez goes there

Lane Kiffin was hired as the head football coach at FAU

Not so fast my friend... linked to FAU...

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit reported that Kiffin had a deal in place with a school but talks broke down.

You know, if you looked at his career in reverse order it would be pretty impressive

His career actually makes more sense backwards than it does forwards.

Starts off at small-time FAU then becomes the OC for Saban at powerhouse Bama for 1 year, using the job as a sort of stepping stone. That leads to 3 years at USC - right up until the point where the NCAA investigations comes to town and Kiffin packs his bags for Tennessee. Spends 1 year at Tennessee before accepting the head coaching job of the Oakland Raiders.

The Lane Kiffin show is the biggest trainwreck in college football.

I just realized it's really a sad day of him going to FAU.

No more Kiffin's Krimson Korner from Tosh...

Guy On Atlanta sports radio just compared the Lane Kiffin intro press conference to a hostage video from Beirut. Said all it was missing was a guy holding a newspaper to prove the date.

Really?

Well at least he did not set the goal for the program as unseating UT's position as Champions of Life.

He should just be happy keeping players out of jail.

It's not like Florida schools have a good track record along those lines...

I think the Championship of Life is like a boxing or wrestling championship, so Vanderbilt currently holds it by right of beating then-champion Tennessee.

Surprising move for Kiffin. I figure he'd rather be OC at Alabama for another year than HC at Florida Atlantic. Just buy time for a better opportunity plus make more money.

If he wants to use this as a stepping stone to a big boy job (and why else would he have taken it), he needs to really, really elevate the level of the program. I don't think "pretty good" gets it done. He needs double digit win seasons and conference titles, and there were multiple solid teams in that conference this year (Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, MTSU, Marshall was bad this year but has a winning history, Louisiana Tech). Those first 4 teams in that list are division opponents he has to play every year.

Lawd Kiffin is horrible on the mic. Needs to get some private lessons from Flair or The Rock.

I think this is a good move for Kiffin and a home run hire for FAU. Kiffin was sitting at Bama running an offense but really was just under the thumb of saban. Going to FAU he can run the program his way and if he can get that program to a bowl game, he looks like a a savior. He'll probably go the Louisville/WVU route and focus on transfers and kids who don't have the grades to get into bigger programs. There's a lot of really good players in Florida and they guy can recruit. Hope he does well, it's been almost 10 years since he was at Tennessee, all that now is water under the bridge

Kiffin should win regularly down there. Only a matter of time before he leaves though

Kind of funny the most personality he's shown was while he was in Knoxville

Word I got is positive outlook on Canada as of earlier today. Lamo had a tough call, as his options were limited.
