Right she inherited a good team from the coach who took over for Gail Goestenkors when she left Duke for Texas.

Gottlieb had a couple good seasons with McCallies players, including a FF. Then her team completely imploded. She weaseled her way into an NBA job before she got fired from Cal which was on the horizon after she severely under achieved with teams built around Kristine Anigwe who was a stellar player.

Got some NBA experience then when to USC and used that clout to capture a top recruit in Watkins and now the #1 recruiting class. She actually loses a good bit this season so we will see if the players she has can carry her or not.

Because her history shows that unless she has a team of really dynamic players she isn’t that good.

That is not a comment coming from White. That is the journalist throwing her name out there.

White made it very clear in his statement that we wouldn’t be hearing anything at all from him until he announces the new coach.

Comment is not from White. It is the journalist throwing her name around. White said in his statement we wouldn’t be hearing anything from him until he announces the new hire. And I believe him.

You are confusing coaches. Gottlieb took over at Cal when Joanne Boyle left Cal for Virginia. There's no crossover from Goestenkors-McCallie to Gottlieb.

Yes thank you. It’s been a long time. I don’t always go back, was working off memory but yes, it was Joanne Boyle who went to Virginia.

She was a good coach and left Gottlieb with a nice roster. After her players were gone Gottlieb had a fall off worse than anything Holly ever did.

No coach is very good if they don't have talented, dynamic players. And good players of course make good coaches. The Iowa coach probably isn't going to flourish when Caitlin Clark leaves.

The Oregon State coach is good. The Zaga coach is definitely good--but it's another wife/husband coaching combo! If not for that, I think
Fortier would be a wonderful hire. I'd like a coach is very good, of course--but also has some class like McGraw and Venderveer. Coaches like Mulkey and Staley who are very successful but who lack polish and have rough edges are not appealing. In retrospect, we should have done whatever it took to hire McGraw when PS retired. Instead we did the opposite.

I agree, the best coaches know they are only as good as their best players. Pat said it all the time and that’s why she and Geno had so much bad blood.

Iowa does step back when Clark is gone but I don’t see them suddenly throwing a sub .500 season in there. Bluder has tons of experience and is consistent.

She's been in the conference finals twice, and you're totally ignoring her overall record and 2019 and 2020 Div.II Coach of the Year honors. She was also 2023 WAC Coach of the Year.

There are know perfect x and O coaches they all make mistakes in game and even sometimes have bad plans. So having the Elite players you must have if you want to win Championships. But to your point read her bio very impressive I believe she knows how to game plan and adjust in game. In CHRIST Alone

Watching her team last night they sure do not pass my eye test. Great talent on her squad and very young they just did not look fundamentally sound. LG checks a lot of boxes on my wish list. Young, Pro Ball experience, head coaching experience, great recruiter. The team did not look fundamentally sound to me.

I just hope they hire a luscious looking woman regardless of her ability or qualifications so the product will be watchable.
