Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

Agreed, Hammon would be the best splash hire this University has made in a long long time if it happens. I would purchase Cable TV if shes hired. I live in South West AZ so season tickets are out of the question lol.
I’d say possibly the biggest splash hire UT has ever made. Possibly. Barnes is the biggest as of now imo. She’d at least be second.

I get this is all hypothetical and who knows what White has planned or is really doing but (playing devils advocate).

I don''t see Hammon at all (she makes a million a year at the ACEs right now)

Ivey she is a Notre Dame alum and McGraw protege. She is in her dream job and its going well. If it's $, Notre Dame can outbid us.

So, I see those tires as waste of time to kick when time is of the essence.

Yeah, Gottlieb whose meal ticket wants to stay close to home and who has the number 1 recruiting coming to campus (and obviously a ton of support). Yep, she is hopping on that plane to do a rebuild in the hills of East Tennessee.

Molly Miller - great record at D2. At a D1 school that I don't think even qualifies as mid-major she has gone 18-7, 22-10, 21-10, 24-8 and I believe has one opening round loss in the WNIT and no NCAA bids. Yep, she is your home run hire...
Give Becky a million dollar raise..might get her attention that we are serious!

Sounds like an opinion. Detest Auriemma but WIN/LOSS records and CHAMPIONSHIPS are a thing, and Wes Moore is upper echelon without a championship. Not even bringing Vic Schaeffer into the conversation. Other rising stars and more behind them. You’re a reverse misogynist. Mebbe dump the fake insider gig and get tenure teaching that in college. 😉

Misandry.

Picking out a couple of hires that didn’t work out is asinine. DW’s history suggests he will hire a winner. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least he will have tried to hire a winner instead of sticking with something that was never going to get us close to a championship level. Complacency has never and never will breed championships.
The high level winners in the NCAA will be probably staying where they are. I like the Gail G pick. She slayed at Duke.

Maybe, or maybe not.

Riding that Kellie Harper train hard huh? I never liked the Kellie Harper hire. She failed at NC State and was ok here. But given this programs history and resources she should have done alot better. Maybe it was her, maybe it was money behind the scenes. We will never know. Dont bash my opinions when yours are just as awful. Have a wonderful day :)
Kellie being better than Molly isn’t and opinion… it’s a fact.

Molly isn’t proven at all. Not gonna waste another sentence on her. She is the divider on who I think has any sense and a worthy opinion or not here

Disclaimer: I only follow the LV and am a man of limited knowledge regarding women‘s basketball. That said, I gotta agree with you here. 250 wins is definitely impressive, but what else comes with that? Based on my research via Google, I’m not seeing much that screams hardcore success at the level necessary to succeed here. I mean if you go this route, you might as well have just given Harper one more season to right the ship.

This is a good example of how to be nice about someone else's opinion. Thank you Checker. And you are correct, This is an individual coach who I like based off what i have seen. Again MY OPINION. Also, I had Josh Heupel on my list of candidates for the football job aswell. That got bashed to holy hell and back too. TIFWIW

Buckle up folks. Tennessee athletic administration is operating this women’s basketball team coaching search to perfection! This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about hype. This isn’t about the past.
The best candidate will get the job. And trust me there are some outstanding candidates in mix!
That’s what we want hear and we i want the best we can get

Three. I think the reach candidate is A+, but long odds- maybe a one in three chance. They have expressed an interest in making her the highest paid women’s coach, with upside. Maybe she’ll listen. The other two are impressive, and an upgrade and both very interested as their agents reached out to us. It’s perceived that enough time has passed that someone can take the job and not be following Pat. Molly is not on the list of three. I think White will get this right.

I am ready to run through a brick wall. This has me fired up. Get the BIG fish, Danny.

This business is about two things, relationships and results.

As an AD, you have to cultivate them both. When there is a job opening is when you get a chance to start relationships, evaluate philosophies and personalities and winnow your “potential future coaches” list.

You’d have a fool for an AD if he didn’t have such a list. Who thought Pat’s career would end as it did? Who thought Lane Kiffin’s career would end as it did?

Two very different situations, but UT did not seem to have a list of potential replacements in either instance, and we paid the price.

I haven’t seen anyone say the GC coach should be at the top of the list. I have seen people acknowledge an impressive coaching record. Is that against lesser opposition? Sure, but nobody else at her level is winning like she is.

It doesn’t hurt now to establish relationships for the future.

I bet there is no one on the Purdue message board pissed off their AD considered a former Barton College assistant coach for an opening they had years later.

I'd be excited about Goestenkors. Posted about that just now before I saw your post.
Curb your enthusiasm. GG been a has been for years now. Once a good coach though.

Isn't she still on staff as advisor somewhere in the SEC?
