Play ball sounds like not follow the rules. Hopefully the rules are changing but Kellie and staff should not be criticized for following NCAA rules at the time they were recruiting. Wasn’t Pruitt enough of a problem?
Who would you think is a big hire? The one thing that bothers me still today was not even trying for Kim Mulkey when he hired Jolly Harper. She was prime for the taking at the time from Baylor. You can check things I’ve shared over the last three years in football, recruiting or basketball forums and decide for yourself. It didn’t come from White, but it came from someone very connected who has given me 100% accurate information before. He’s swinging for a big candidate.
Hopefully she's a ways down the listFrom the always impeccable source Xitter, Jackson State Coach Tomekia Reed is presumably in the consideration set.
She is an interesting option. She has done really well at Jackson State and her contract is up and the big fish coaches Dawn and Geno are singing her praises....

Your point was until the boomers are gone the tennessee job is not a desirable one. Is it correct that you would like to get a good coach and therefore need the job to be desirable? I hope you see how your line of thought concludes here.
Nope, you misinterpreted my remarks to fit your schtick. All of these I believe are true:
1) The Lady Vols job is a desirable job for male and female candidates.
2) The Lady Vols job is not a great fit/ideal situation for a male candidate for another 15-20 years until the boomers reach late age/die due to their beliefs about Pat Summit and where the Tennessee job fits in the history of womens athletics. Not judging that opinion to be right or wrong. Just saying as long as a substantial minority or more hold it, then the job is not ideal for a man.
3) I would love to get a great coach and as another poster has mentioned the desirable candidate pool appears to be much deeper for female candidates. My realistic top 5 (i.e. no Dawn Staley, Niele Ivey, etc. etc.) doesn't even include a male.
We clear?
I don’t think she’s anything more than a fallback plan. I imagine we’d have to go through quite a few rejections before it falls to her. From the always impeccable source Xitter, Jackson State Coach Tomekia Reed is presumably in the consideration set.

or more. Really, I don't know of anyone we could hire that would be a bigger splash. Aside from the splash, she's had the best coaching, and proven performance with the Aces. She's not going to be satisfied with mediocre performance from players. I think her coaching skills would bring out the best in our players. Hope we get to find out.Give Becky a million dollar raise..might get her attention that we are serious!
The LV Mafia has made it very clear: Men need not apply. And that’s why we’re in this mess. Fulmer caved in to the LV Mafia. Facts is facts. Phil should have told them to go pound sand. Regardless of male/female - Hire the best. This hire should be for the program.Per 2, I am not convinced that this stance is just a boomer thing tied to memories of Pat.
The larger socio-cultural issue is that men can be legit candidates for both men's and womens head coaching jobs (at both the college and pro levels) whereas women remain confined to the realm of women's sports. It's always" hire the best candidate regardless of gender" when it comes to a women's coaching job but you never hear that mantra when a men's job becomes open do you? It is just assumed that women are not legit candidates and only men need to apply or be discussed. Good women coaches can get an assistant job here and there on the men's side but that seems to be the current limit.
So, there is an underlying equity issue. If the best women's coaches could also move between the men's and women's teams, then there would be no issue. Until that day comes, we have to recognize the playing field is not level or equitable.
Another consideration-- almost all the female coaching talent is loaded into the women;s game whereas the men's is split. So, that kind of makes your odds better with a woman hire.
Doesn't change the broader point about the overall inequity. The LV Mafia has made it very clear: Men need not apply. And that’s why we’re in this mess. Fulmer caved in to the LV Mafia.
