Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

DW strikes me as someone who always has a plan in place when it comes to filling vacant coaching jobs. My guess is he’s already identified a couple of A or A- candidates who will accept the job if offered. Now the fun part begins with the A+ candidates. I don’t see Staley leaving Carolina or Hammon leaving the WNBA. The million dollar question is who else is in play.

Correct. Shea’s husband as well, but I mentioned those two since they’ve been brought up multiple times and I’m familiar with their resumes .

I personally think he was the weak link on the coaching staff and wish he’d been replaced. Joy and Sam are great assistants and their track records prove that.
What made Jon the weak link and the other two assets? Is it certain game scouts he was responsible For? A certain element of player development that was his job that he wasn’t good at? I have seen him criticized a lot in here but haven’t seen it about the other assistants. I don’t understand.

We'll know how much of a recruiting draw our new coach is immediately. See Kenny Brooks at KY. His best Va Tech players are in the portal, probably to follow him. The best KY players who went into the portal haven't gone elsewhere, and could well return to KY. They'd have a strong core to start the rebuild plus have proven Kenny can get players.

I wouldn't put any timeline on winning a single game, much less an NC. What I'm looking for immediately is someone who can get impact players. This was KJH downfall, and this is what we're being promised will be the improvement. And with our current roster, that can't wait.
So schools are buying players now. Are the Coaches of each sport supposed to be knocking on business doors asking for money to buy recruits? I don’t think so. This sounds like Danny White’s responsibility, but he put donations he received into the stadium or other places, instead of the Lady Vols basketball program. So, even though we had just gone to the Sweet Sixteen twice, and recruits visited and were interested, they went elsewhere, because Kellie had no money to outbid other schools. We knew of several of those players.

So now, to cover his own failure, DW says/implies that our donors did not want to support Coach Kellie, (even after 2 Sweet Sixteen finishes), and he fires her. So now, better late than never, the new Coach will have money to outbid other schools for players.

Yeah, it better be a big hire, and one that can win.

Jon is the only one who’s followed her in her mediocre career. His resume is attached to her results and hers to his.

Ok, but the criticism I’ve seen of him is mainly by people that thought he was the problem and the one bringing her down. People that wanted him gone but not her. So I struggle to see how she couldn’t also be the problem if the two are connected to each other.

In the brief time DW has been our AD, he doesn’t strike me as someone who doesn’t have a plan in place or takes chances when it comes to filling vacant coaching jobs. My guess is he’s already identified a couple of A or A- candidates who will accept if offered. Now the fun part begins with the A+ candidates. Exactly right. He didn’t just start this on Monday or after the SECT. He’s known for some time what direction he would go if the team didn’t make a deep run. He’s probably had 3rd party conversations to know which short list of candidates will come.

Many just wanted to know what does he do to elevate the program.

Jon isn't the issue for the results; that's 100% on Kellie. She was the head coach. Even if he was overstepping his boundaries, it was her job to get her staff under control.

I think that Jon was criticized because the hardcore Kellie fans couldn't bring it on themselves to hold her accountablle.
