Kim Davis

So this little gal has been divorced three times, at least one of which apparently involved her cheating, and she's now the Evangelical circuit's key champion of family values. All because she don't like the gays.

I've seen a lot of **** in my life, but it never ceases to amaze me, until the next time I say this exact same line.

What a joke of a human being.

Although, I will say that the final joke will be on the rest of us that actually have a sense of hypocrisy and care about moral integrity. As for her, well, Evangelicals about to make her ass rich.
She is a Democrat, therefore that is her personal life. It shouldn't matter.

The question isn't apples to apples. Which specific change to The Constitution does the new Prez not want to enforce? And what religious belief does he have that makes him not want to support it? I need more information.

The oath of office doesn't care

So everybody that says all believers in Islam are terrorists are actually onto something?

I think you're using too much club on the approach with your use of "common belief" here. (short of more evidence to the contrary)

Are you high? Your extrapolation is absurd.

They both hide behind their faith as an acceptable and rational vector to promote bigotry.

How is this not clear?

I don't view her as a hypocrite.

Just not qualified to hold the position she has. It's more than a little ironic that a clerk, whose job it is to perform a fairly ministerial function in following the law, doesn't want to follow the law.

Republican presidential contender Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has championed the cause of Davis, said Tuesday that he stands with her and would go to jail in her place. Speaking at a rally in support of Davis, Huckabee said he had a message for the judge who sent her to jail last week and ordered her release Tuesday.

"Let Kim go, but if you have to put someone in jail, I volunteer to go. Let me go. Lock me up if you think that's how freedom is best served," Huckabee said. "Because folks, I am willing to spend the next eight years in the White House leading in this country. But I want you to know I'm willing to spend the next eight years in jail, but I'm not willing to spend the next years in tyranny under people who think they can take our freedom and conscience away."

What a giant tool.

How many years has she held the position?

Not sure of the timing of her infidelities but I believe her conversion was in 2011.

As for having a sense of hypocrisy and care about moral integrity I'd say that is violated everyday by any number of public officials.

I'm over the hypocrisy card - I just can't get my outrage going over it anymore since it is so common.

Because it is a matter of degree by a huge margin.

Bill Clinton believed that gay marriage was wrong in God's eyes so much he signed a national law against it. Was he pretty much the same as Westboro?

I looked it up, and she served 26 years in the same office as Deputy Clerk, and now a year or so as County Clerk. I would say that she is qualified. You just disagree with her on gay marriage. Would you say that she wasn't qualified to hold office if she didn't issue gun licenses?

love of bacon?

I'm sure I could find something.

The fact that she holds some view in common with Westboro doesn't mean she is like Westboro people. It's a gross simplification.

It's like a religious Godwin Law.

It's not "some view" they coincidentally share, it's a very specific belief that homosexuality is an abomination and is wrong before god's eyes. It's the very belief that Westboro screeches about and the very one where Davis decided to plant her flag.

I'm not a talking about the fact that Davis and Phelps have both similar clothing and hair styles (they do) - THAT would be coincidence.
