How is hiring Kirby Smart a good thing? Seriously!
What's the Big Deal with Alabama PPL!!!!!! This Is Tennessee!!!!!
Stop the Madness!!!
Other than a great pedigree, playing in the SEC, being the DC of a perennially great defense and having instant recruiting contacts . . . you're right. No upside at all.
I'd love to see him get the job and then bring in his old boss, Chris Hatcher to be the OC so I could laugh at the outrage and then laugh again when they started winning.
Yeah, that says absolutely nothing about winning and losing as a head coach... But I'm sure if we keep hiring Bama coaches one of them will start to win for us, right? :good!:
The funny part about that is that Alabama went for years thinking that way. Then they hired a guy from outside Alabama and started winning.
Florida thought they needed a Florida guy and ended up with 3 years of Ron Zook before they moved on to Urban Meyer.
Georgia thought they needed a UGA guy, and ended up with Ray Goff before wishing up and finding Mark Richt.
See a pattern here?
So why even think in those terms? I can't think of a single SEC school that went "inside the family" for their last head coach hire. It's the way of the past.
