That. Because the Dooley bashers have a better opinion on a head coach because of their incessant *****ing & moaning about every loss.
Interesting new thread, filled with the same ****. We are getting a new coach people.
But we are stuck with the same fans.
There are enough complainers on this board for 10 teams. You all don't need me to join in with you. I would not anyway. You all seem to have it covered pretty well.
Who decides what is better or worse?Because your incessant *****ing & moaning about the fans is better.
What's the point of being here if you hate everyone and are going to continue whining about it?
For being a huge pothead, you sure are angry.

Why I think it will be Smart - I don't like it necessarily, but it makes the most sense...
1. No defensive scheme change. 3-4 year learning curve is over theoretically
2. More affordable - we're broke & it's the UT way
3. Hart's guy from the beginning
4. Could keep some offensive coaches - good for consistency and cash standpoint (Graham, Pittman, Chaney even)
If that came to pass, then the public relations sales job for UTAD would be the most difficult in the history of the program. Replacing one Saban guy with another who has even less independent experience would not be greeted positively by the majority of the fanbase.
Hart and Smart would have to win the press conference first and win it big. Then they would have to work hard to maintain the momentum and turn that into season ticket/mini-pack sales.
That is a lot of work to get done if Hart decides to go there.
I think you could be overestimating the importance of the first press conference - Insignificant in the long run. Dooley wins that all the time, but that's all he wins
With a fanbase lacking confidence in your ability and collectively suffering from low morale, hiring a chip off the old Saban block would not be viewed as anything but the same old thing you tried doing before.
You are trying to keep the season ticket base stable. You are also trying to bring back/add the fans who've stopped buying into your brand. Hiring Kirby Smart would take considerable convincing from the git-go; folks will view him as another Dooley.
That is why they would need that press conference to go beyond well if they went in that direction. You don't need momentum if you hire a big name; momentum will produce itself. The ticket sales will flow and the revenues will begin climbing back up for UTAD.
But hire Kirby Smart and you are going to have to generate the enthusiasm and keep the fire burning throughout the pre-season. You are going to have to do that with a fanbase that is cynical of your long-term ambition for Tennessee football.
This is why I don't believe Tennessee will go with Smart or anyone like him. It is simply too much of a sales job to make with a customer-base you've disappointed several times in the past.

Look at Muschamp too - was ranked #2, still top 10, with a freshman QB, all in his first year of coaching ... U just never can tell
