Copper Cellar Family restaurants(Calhoun's, Copper Cellar, Chesapeake's, Cherokee Grill, Smoky Mountain Brewery, Cappuccino's) are building a new restaurant on Middlebrook Pike across from Food City. There is no word yet on which concept it will be. Construction on this has been underway for months now.
For some reason, I swear I remember reading they were going to try a new concept there. I may be mixing stories up though. I've got a friend I can call to see.
I have to think it would be one of their more casual brands, but I'm interested to see what they put there. Its an interesting location.
They've got the Calhouns in Oak Ridge on the water close to opening too.
Yeah, let us know what you find out.
They've somehow kept this on the down-low. I drive by it constantly since it's around the corner from my house and there is no signage for what is being built. If they are planning a whole new concept this could get very interesting. I'd prefer it not be another Calhoun's though. A Cherokee Grill I'd be ok with.
I was saddened to learn that the We're Cooking on North Peters is closed for good. That was the first one I ate at, and felt that it was the best of the Knoxville franchises.
Friend either didn't know or wouldn't say. Surely it isn't another Calhouns. Between Turkey Creek, the Barn at Pellisippi, and now Oak Ridge they would be crazy saturated in that area.
A Cherokee Grill would be in an odd place there, but it would be interesting.
Makes me think its a new concept they want to try.
Got any pictures of what they're building?
The one in Karns went out as well. Apparently something shady was going on. The 'owner' was a woman (and her 3rd or 4th husband) that was involved with HR Comp when they were raided by the IRS/FBI. Its typical small community rumors but there's a lot of really angry people.
I'm going with they probably didn't know. I ran into the same thing with a source of mine.
I'll have to drive by and take some photos.
So basically there isn't a location open in the area anymore?
Here are a few photos.
Nope, they all closed. The Fountain City one was supposedly going to stay open, but it closed too. Apparently they paid everyone out and locked the doors.
I'm interested to see if they just went under, or something shady happened again. She has quite the history.
Thanks.
I'm really not sure what those could mean. I could see a SMB or a Calhouns. The metal roof doesn't really scream Cherokee Grill but who knows.
A Smoky Mountain Brewery would be AWESOME. I avoid Turkey Creek at all costs, and it would be ridiculously easy for me to get to.
Is this across from the food city at Bob Kirby?
I REALLY hope it's not another Calhoun's. SMB would be awesome and I also would be interested in seeing a new concept if that's what they are doing.
Yes, exactly.
I drove by there yesterday coming home from Wright's. I really think it might just be another Calhouns, but that patio looking area out to the side gives me hope its something different.
Yeah, that patio looks like it could accommodate patrons and live music. If it were just another Calhoun's though it seems like they would have said something by now but the fact that there is little info leads me to believe it could possibly be a new concept.
