Knoxville Restaurants

I don't. It's possible I misread the menu. Looked like 2 people could eat for that amount.

After three courses it's around 100/person. Steaks go for around 50 min. And hey let's say you just want some bar treats and a beer. Have some 8$ watermelon or 8$ peanuts!

Ya know, no ones forcing you to go there. So don't.
Don't expect to see you at Ruth's Chris or several other upscale restaurants either.
Get off your high horse about wanting a low ball place in Sullivan's old place. It was empty. The dude took it, and there it is....reality.

Hey man, I won't go no problem. But I have a right to comment on the fact I don't feel high scale, overpriced steaks are not really what knoxville is about. The original was a great place that all could enjoy. And I think the steak at Ruth's is mediocre at best. I hope you are able to enjoy a 200 dollar meal for two bc I can't, as most of knoxville.

Wasn't it just a test bed for new concepts when RT had it?

In it's last few years owned by Ruby Tuesdays it seemed to be.

Nick and J's

I just can't compare Nick and J's to Stock and Barrel. A lot more craftiness and quality go into the patties at Stock and Barrel imo. Nick and J's has a really good burger but it's ultimately just a regular patty cooked on a flat top, a heathy portion though for sure. It's the bacon and condiments that finish off a pretty good burger at Nick and J's.

I would have the Big Zo burger from lunch house as to anything at Stock and Barrel. And I don't have to wait an hour and half to get one

And I have a right to comment you have no mandate to speak for what Knoxville is about. Sounds more like sour grapes to me. Just because some folk are fine with the bill from an upscale restaurant is no cause for you or anyone else to take such offense. I know folk who only go out 5 or 6 times a year. They always go to the better Knoxville restaurants. She says she'd rather pay for a memorable dining experience a few times a year than eat out often. It's a matter of choice.

I looked up that Wagyu Tomahawk steak. Looks good. Wagyu and Kobe beef are the finest names in the sphere of world's best beef. For what it costs the restaurant, it's not overpriced. You can order your own online at $109 per cut & up.

From my perspective it doesn't seem like he's trying to "mandate" anything, just giving his opinion. You seem taking it personally, telling him "don't go" and throwing out stuff like "high horse" and "sour grapes."

Like you said it's a matter of choice.

For me, it's probably not a place that's in my wheelhouse, other than maybe a very special occasion, but it will be interesting to see how it works out.

No chance. Not even the best burger downtown...:p

Don't let your bias against S&B cloud your judgement too much.

I'd throw in Sam and Andy's for best burger contender.

Just had a fantastic burger from there Saturday night, and got it in 15 mins. SB wait was 2 hrs. Sam and Andys is a good burger but I like the sauce on the Not Watsons

Not Watson's is a good burger. Downtown Grill makes a good burger. Nick and J is good. Bad Daddy's bar in Turkey Creek makes some good eats. Their burger with fried bacon is a once a year indulgence for me.

Not Watson's makes a bacon wrapped hot dog, that's awesome too

So The Orangery is done? Been a couple years since i was there but was quite good as I recall. Loss or a shrug?

Did it close down again? I'm guessing that an aging regular patronage and competition from the many newer quality eateries around town were to blame.

We've had several good meals there, but the atmosphere was never going to attract the younger crowd, without a major overhaul.
