Holy Land is good and I've heard people talk about Big Monster Sub's.

I tried Big Monster Sub....I thought it was overpriced and not that great. Perhaps it was my choice. I believe I got a single footlong and it was $13ish. Split it with the wife and neither thought much of it.

Folks inside seemed nice enough and it's a local family that started and run it. I wanted to like it.

Good to know...thanks! That knocks it off my "must try" list. :good!:

Lenny's large italian is around $12 but I really like their selections of meats. It's pretty good.

Sadly, one member of our party is a very unadventurous eater, and she didn't think she could find anything there to order. So...another day.

We did, however, make it to the Oliver Royale. It was fantastic. Bold and unique flavors and preparation, nice presentation. Portions aren't huge, but I thought the price was about what I'd expect.

Went to Royale tonight for the first time. I left still a little hungry. We started off with the smoked fish app and the tomatoes app. Both were good. Had the lamb chops. Tasted good, but for the price, I'd have preferred more than 3 chops.

Peerless didn't survive for a myriad of reasons, but you could get a rack of lamb (8 bones) and a side for less than 3 chops at Oliver Royale, and the flavor at Peerless was better.

It had been about a year since I last had lamb and I was really looking forward to quenching that urge. I've still got that hankerin'

My sister went to Oliver Royale, she's not a picky person and she said she wasn't impressed and probably wouldn't return.

When I go to Brazeiros, they always have lamb chops and leg of lamb, and it's always good. I like it with horseradish sauce.

I agree about the portion size (esp the lamb), but I thought the taste of everything we had was superb. My wife said her fish entree was one of the best she could recall.

It's been a few years since I've been to Brazieros but I ate so much there I felt absolutely stuffed and bloated. Everything we had was really good though.

The taste was good. I honestly felt that what came with the lamb tasted better than the lamb itself. Also, I ordered medium rare, but what I received was definitely more like straight-up rare. Not that I'm opposed to it, as I sometimes order steaks rare. It just...wasn't right.

Another at our table ordered the Halibut and really liked hers. I dunno...maybe I was just very spoiled with my previous lamb experiences. I would 100% try something else the next time.

Okay, so tomorrow is my son's 10th birthday and he wants to try a Japanese Steakhouse with some buddies... I've never been to any in Knoxville as it's really not my thing. I thought I would look for some opinions on which is the best? Not just the quality of the food but also looking for a kid friendly and fun atmosphere where the chef's really put on a show.

Probably Wasabi.

Can't imagine someone not liking these places.

Down here in SC we have the popular Miyabi. There are several throughout SC, NC, and GA. Funny enough, there used to be a Miyabi in Knoxville back in the 90's and early 00's, but the owner didn't want to continue paying the franchise fee and renamed it Misaki. Literally changed 2 letters of the name, but left everything else the same. I went a few years ago and it was great. Probably not as aesthically pleasing as Wasabi because it's no longer part of a chain, but delicious nonetheless. I believe most people that have traveled to Myrtle Beach or Charleston have been to Miyabi, as it's pretty much a staple of this area. I've had hibachi from all over the country and this can't be topped, imo.

Wasabi will suit your needs. Their sushi is actually pretty good too.

Honestly, the last couple of times we've been, I have felt rushed through like cattle -- the courses come out on top of each other, very little entertainment, never coming back for second+ drink orders, etc. It's unfortunate, because I used to really have fun at hibachi places. I could care less about going back, but I'm sure we will for the kiddos.

The best experience I've had was actually at the Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos. Hibachi with a bit of a caribbean flair, and all the chefs sang classic tunes together while they cooked, encouraging diners to participate. We had a blast, and that's really what it's all about.

I definitely prefer Misaki to Wasabi as far as flavor and portion sizes, but Misaki is starting to look a little run down.

Yea my guess is Misaki doesn't have the cash flow to renovate the restaurant. Miyabi got a makeover about 10 years ago so I imagine Misaki is even further behind. Great tasting food though.

Where can one get a nice steak dinner in Gatlinburg. I would prefer to not travel to the Forge.
