So has anyone tried Duck Donuts yet?

They are becoming notorious for always having a line out the door. People on Facebook are saying it's extremely worth the wait.

Haven't heard of it. Looking at photos on google it looks like it's target clientele are children.

It's good but incredibly overpriced for what they actually serve. If you want to be a hipster and eat tacos then by all means have it, otherwise just find the best Mexican joint in your area and they will have fish tacos.

I wouldn't even begin to consider ordering seafood at most Mexican dives. We caught happy hour at Babalu last trip downtown with the kids and actually commented how cheap our meal was for the quality. $6 for three ahi tuna, duck, or blackened Redfish tacos in a nice place where my wife can feel confident they are preparing her food gluten-free is a steal. Even at the regular $8-9 price, I would call that very fair.

I went to the Kingston pike location yesterday around 3:00. At least 30 people jammed inside this small location. Smaller than most Dunkins

I'll compare it to a Starbucks/ Froyoz yogurt place. :)
Starbucks? All the cool kids go there.
Froyoz? Anything you can imagine can be added to your order.

It appeared to be all cake donuts dipped in what every goo you desired. The goo area/ prep area was quite a Fn mess. :) I waited about 10 mins and the line was not moving. I left while 12 more people were cramming in behind me. I'll give it another shot , maybe on a Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
Stopped by Dippin Donuts and grabbed a 6 pack on the way home. In and out in 2 mins, good products.

Sorry, I like donuts as much as the next guy but I'm not standing in line that long for much of anything. I'm fine waiting to try it in two months when the hype has died out.

Seriously though, who is eating donuts at 3pm? There is nobody eating donuts before dinner. That's what Zues said to himself before going there. :)

Describe the crowd in 20 words or less?

I'd guess the crowd going for donuts around 3pm includes many people with connections to school, whether it's high school students or moms driving children

The crowd was like a big bowl of soup. From senior citizens to the soccer mom crowd with a sprinkling of visitors from out of state.

What I didn't see, the hard hats and muddy boots crowd. That group is at Pilot grabbing the two dunkers and a cup of joe special. However it was a Saturday.

:hi:

Saturday... That was the problem. :good!:

The out of state people is kind of interesting though.

6 bucks for 3 bites of food is a steal alright.

Fair enough. If you want to shove entire tacos in your mouth just go to Taco Bell. We think it's great and fed the whole family a delicious, healthy meal downtown for $40 out the door.

Note that I didn't say the food was bad. In fact, I said the opposite. However, there are places in town where one can get similar full meals just as good as Babalu's overpriced snacks.

Will those places use the same grade of ingredients?

Internet photos, but a good representation of what we have been served.
