Knoxville Restaurants

I live very close to there and the place is usually bumping when I go past. The one in Maryville is pretty good, have not tried this one yet. My fave BBQ is Bread of Heaven in the Alcoa Big Lots parking lot!

I just ate my own pulled pork bbq. Decent but not great. I did it in a crockpot though so to be expected. Real deal takes a lot of smoke and lot of time and I had neither.

Did you consider using liquid smoke in the crock pot with the meat?

No but that is a good idea thanks. I mean it is good and effortless, but not the same as someone who is actually good at BBQ smoking something up.

I went to the Full Service BBQ on Kingston Pike today and it was legit. Daughter and I were riding bikes and the smell lured us in. We just split the pulled pork nachos but I was impressed with the meat. We couldn't finish it together btw, they definitely go big on the serving sizes.

What kind of sauce does he use?

Fairly certain a laboratory analysis will reveal it to be liquid crack. That man is a magician with smoked meats.

They used to have a dine-in location in Townsend where they served the full menu and it was ridiculously good. Too bad they set up shop next to the biker/porno outlet, I think it kept families away.

That's ironic. There is a biker/porn shop next to each other on Lovell Rd as well.

What is the best place to get a taco? And even better. Best place to get a fish taco?

Don Gallo has great tacos and a yummy take on fish tacos.

Tacos Baja
Three soft flour tortillas, stuffed with beer-battered tilapia. Served with shredded cabbage, pineapple, pico de gallo, cilantro & our special sauce

They will also do grilled tilapia if you don't want it fried.

Not Knoxville but close, Howard's Steak House in G'Burg. Just got served the worst ribs of my life. Should have known better and ordered a steak. Buddy's BBQ would put these sorry things to shame.

Wow.

You should have just gone to Calhoun's or Bennett's for ribs in Gatlinburg. For steak go to The Peddler or The Alamo which aims to reopen this fall. The Alamo location in Pigeon Forge is still open also.

Never tried Bennett's, will give it a go next time. This was so bad though. I just had them take it from the table. They took it off of the bill but I won't be back. They knew that stuff was pitiful when they served it.

Babalu is delicious. They have tuna and blackened snapper as options.

It's good but incredibly overpriced for what they actually serve. If you want to be a hipster and eat tacos then by all means have it, otherwise just find the best Mexican joint in your area and they will have fish tacos.

Tacos? Believe it or not, Soccer Taco is my fave. The Mexican style ones with lime, cilantro, a flat tortilla, etc. Have had them with cow cheek at the flea market on Alcoa Hwy and those are legit too.

So has anyone tried Duck Donuts yet?

They are becoming notorious for always having a line out the door. People on Facebook are saying it's extremely worth the wait.
