Knoxville Restaurants

I like Cheddars.

What restaurant in the same price range is better than Cheddars?

All of them.

Seriously though, I've had nothing but long waits, terrible service, and to say the food was decent would be a stretch.

I don't mind the long wait if there is a decent payoff...there wasn't.

I have been to the one on Clinton Hwy twice, was very pleased both times. There was a long wait our first trip there.

I like the Philly Cheese-steak.

I've never waited at Cheddar's except once at the one in Alcoa with my parents. The only other times I go to Cheddar's are when I'm going West to Nashville or Memphis. I've eaten at the one in Crossville (or Cookeville? I get them mixed up) and the one right before you enter Nashville. No wait ever for either one of those.

$8 for fettuccine Alfredo that is good just can't be topped, IMO. They have lots of other good stuff, too.

Cookeville. However, for some reason, everything in Cookeville is great. I don't know why. Even the fast food places taste better. Maybe they lace their food with crack.

They(Cheddar's) have a 12oz ribeye for 14.99. Thats only 5 dollars more than you would likely pay for the steak at Kroger's. And at Kroger's you get it uncooked with no side items, and without a cute waitress in short orange shorts and a tight tank-top.

Advantage Cheddar's.

I'd overlook much if this was the case. I've never experienced this at Cheddar's however.

Maybe I should go to another Cheddar's.

Ruby Tuesday needs to go back to their original format. Burgers and the huge salad bar. Quit trying to become a fine dining establishment.

Worked there for 6 years during the middle of them changing their identity. From my point of view it appeared upper management felt the need to reinvent the restaurant at least once a quarter. It was pretty ridiculous.

Me too, and I saw a lot of it in my store, so I agree.

Waste of a decent restaurant.

We used to kill that place before or after basketball/football games. Burgers and beer was a great combo.

Then it all went to sh*t. That change they've been chasing for 7 or 8 years now is pitiful.

My sister and I loved Shoney's when we were little. IIRC, it was the macaroni and hot fudge cakes.

Shoney's has award winning hot fudge cakes. I think the award is something along the lines of "The Knoxville News Sentinel 'Hooray, you did it. You made a hot fudge cake.' Award 2012."

Also, wtf is wrong with your phone?

+1 for the hot fudge cake

It's Applebee's for the price of Hardee's. It's great for what it is.

Last time I went to Applebee's it felt dirty to me for some reason. They need a makeover. Get all that shlt off the walls.

Well Chili's or O'Charley's. I never liked Applebee's, it was the first chain restaurant that came to mind.

Chili's is decent food. Their chili queso chip dip is awesome. The fajitas and chicken tenders are always good imo. You'll never catch me ordering a steak at either Chili's, Ocharley's, or Applebee's though. They just aren't places to order a steak at.

I miss the old Ruby Tuesday's. When they used to bring out bread in a clay pot. That was unique.

Ryans was really bad.

That said, why does Knoxville love Shoney's so much? I went there for breakfast once and the only thing that wasn't terrible was the bacon.

It's because Shoney's is the only place in Knoxville where you can get a breakfast buffet. That's the only thing I ever go there for which is not often.

I miss Chandler's, Dead End, Aubrey's, Nama, Copper Cellar, and (as much as I hate to admit) Hibachi Factory delivery.

Add Wasabi to that list as well. And that Brazilian steakhouse. Taste of Thai.

Now that I think about it, Knox had a pretty decent lineup of delicious fattening stations.

Going to Litton's for the first time in months tonight. Might be in a food coma by the end of the night.

Masaman curry at Taste of Thai is one of my favorite plates in Knoxville.
