Knoxville Restaurants

We had a myriad of dishes. Herring salad, salad sampler, three different wursts, salmon, and my entrée chicken schnitzel with Ludvig sauce and spatzle.

The sauce they use on the salmon is fantastic. I don't typically eat salmon but I'd probably order that particular dish. How is the Ludvig sauce? I don't think I've tried that yet as I've gotten the Jaeger sauce the few times I've been.

It's sinful, really. Wine/mushroom/artichoke cream sauce.

Crusse, if your restaurant is open I'll prob stop in tonight and have dinner. For what I read on the Internet it looks like it's open

I don't believe it is. I haven't had a single minute of training for the new concept. Last Friday I heard that they felt they could *hopefully* open the week of Christmas. But I don't even know about that. I'm holding out hope that they can't open til after the new year, so I can go down to Florida for the bowl game.

Thanks for the info. They need to make that more clear on the web site. The way the hours are listed it looks like it's open for dinner now

Yeah...They're pretty atrocious at conveying what they mean to say in a clear and close-to-grammatically correct way. I wish they would take me up on my offer to read everything they're about to send to print/post online and let me fix it.

Hey, you saved me a trip down Parkside Dr. It's all good!

I have some updated pictures, including a panorama of the enclosed patio. I'll post it in the morning. It's looking good! And the whiskey list is nice. There are a few things I'd change, but for now, it's definitely able to stand up to others. A few prices I think are a little low, but hey. That just means go to K-Town Tavern if you want some of those

We ate at Fulin's off Northshore on the way home from the mountains today. Very diverse menu of Chinese/Japanese/Sushi and everything we had was good. Our server was brand new but very polite. My hot and sour soup and Chinese Yin/Yang plate (Orange Beef/Imperial Shrimp) were very tasty, and the kids ate sushi, which was well presented, delicious, and seemed fresh. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

They were also very attentive to my wife's need for gluten-free preparation, which is always a plus.

In summary, I'd say it's a solid choice if you are in the mood for Chinese or sushi.

The pictures didn't turn out, sadly, but we are doing the retraining for the new restaurant this week. I expect to be open in about a week or week and a half.

Anyone tried Babalu's on Gay Street? I know tapas means small meals, but a buddy went and said it wasn't worth the cost for such little food. Said the tacos were awesome but tiniest taco ever.

Makes me think of Cru, which is not tapas but "small plates". I went for the first time back in the middle of December. I got the chicken and waffles dish which wasn't bad but the chicken had way too much breading on it and I could almost barely find the chicken. The plates were just large enough to fill you up for a couple hours and then you'll be snacking on something later.

I've only eaten at Cru twice and both times I had good potions. Once was brunch and the other I had a pizza that was pretty filling.

Going back in today at 1 to get the bar set up and ready for use. Taps are up, whiskey is arranged. We are getting super close at this point. Seems like there will be a soft opening for friends/family either tomorrow or Friday. Then opening for good very shortly after. It'll be dinner first for a few weeks, I'm sure. Then opening for lunch as well.

I hope they train the staff up on the menu and let them try the dishes so they'll actually have input on the food and know what it tastes like.

Had the first soft opening tonight! I worked the whiskey bar and I'll probably be up there fairly frequently. It's a little quieter up there, but I'm hoping it picks up. The food looked great. I was hesitant on some stuff, but tonight eased my worries somewhat. The pizzas going out looked delicious. Both of the guys working the oven had experience at either Brixx or another wood-fire pizza oven place. The beer bar looks great and has good seating. That area is much brighter than the whiskey bar.

Before the shift today, I completely organized the whiskey selection so it's pretty self-explanatory. Lots of bourbon, sure, but there's also a great selection of Tennessee whiskey as well as a plenty of single malt scotches, blends, and even a solid Irish selection.

Anyway, I expect to be open early next week at this point. We have a second soft opening tomorrow night (Friday). Then (I'm hoping) they'll take Saturday to analyze how things went and what should be tweaked. Then (again I'm hoping) they can try and figure out what to implement on Sunday and put it into action on Monday.

me too, I'm hungry lol

To be fair, a decent selection of stuff was available before the transition with simple name changes. Pizzas are obviously new. There's also stuff like wings now.

Also, one thing that's kinda screwy but could be cool for dog lovers is that they're selling beef bones cooked in the juices for you to take home to a pup.

so heads up, y'all

Tomorrow night (Saturday) is expected to be the first night of accepting walk-ins. If you aren't trying to sit at one of the bars, expect to wait a few minutes, even if you see open tables. They're hesitant to go full steam ahead for at least a couple more shifts. We're still working out some kinks with the new ordering system and ensuring that all food orders actually make it to the chef staff. As such, they will probably only run at about 60-65% capacity at most.

After seeing more food go out, I'm even more confident in saying GET THE PIZZAS. They look incredible. One thing to note about the pizzas, though, is that they don't want the pizzas getting altered too much. If you don't want olives or something, that's no issue. But for now, there aren't create-your-owns.

I'll most likely be in the whiskey bar again, as I've been there both last night and tonight. It might be a good idea to call before coming in, just to be safe.

A few other things that I've heard are really good, but I haven't been able to try, are the ham and jam fritters (appetizer) and the corned beef sandwich. Oh also the Mac and Cheese side dish

So they're calling tonight the Grand Opening of KTown Tavern. Dunno what extra that's gonna entail. I wish I could say that I'd get slammed at the whiskey bar, but the TV next to it has been out of commission, so I doubt people will wanna sit there when the championship is on.

But come on in!
