Knoxville Restaurants

It's Gus'. No building of theirs will ever be safe.

Lol!

I was able to try some Bulleit bourbon as well as the Bulleit Rye Whiskey the other day. Let me just say that bourbon is NOT smooth. The rye whiskey was far more palatable but I admit I haven't tried many rye whiskeys.

ehh Bulleit is good for what it is, but it's a mid-$20s bottle of bourbon. It's not gonna be the greatest thing ever, but it's definitely better than the cheaper alternatives. Their rye is solid. The other bartender that works the whiskey bar with me is a big rye fan. I tend to stick more to the bourbons, as they are a little sweeter.

Had my first one in Telluride this past week. The bar had a bulleit and burger for 8 bucks. Must have been the rougher of the two bc it was pretty rough, but I'm not a liquor guy

If y'all wanna try something nice, give Stranahan's a whirl. It just became available outside of Colorado because the distillery was bought and production was multiplied. It's a great whiskey and it's a rarity in these parts as a 100% malted barley mash bill, but not really anything like Scotch.

Family dinner at Lenos y Carbon tonight was fantastic. Delicious empanadas and I had a Cuban steak entree smothered in tomato/onion sauce with rice/beans/plantains. Friendly, attentive service to boot.

Lenos Y Carbon is permanently closed.

Here is their Facebook message:
Dear Customers
We will be temporary closed. We were presented complications with the structure of the premises. We have problems with plumbing and electricity. We'll let you know our new location.
Thanks

I know this is about current restaurants but Knoxville lost a great one this week. If you had a beer at Calhoun's on the river in the 90's it's likely that it was served by Scott. Rip my friend

How old was he? What's the story?

Mid 40's. I was told he had the flu and passed in his sleep Sunday night. He was the type who led you into adventures and when you told people the story they would not believe you. Amazing guy

What was his last name?

I hate to follow the death of a good guy with a pitch about my restaurant's specials, but I kinda wanna get the memo out. RIP to the good man.

KTown Tavern will be running these specials for at least St. Patrick's Day, perhaps throughout the weekend if we don't run out.

$3 green Bud Light and Miller Light, Baby Guinness shots, Irish Flag shots
$5 Jameson shots, Green Tea shots
