That's a great way to get into it more. The NWS guys are really nice. You may want to check out the AMS Smoky Mountain Chapter that usually meets over at UT every couple of months. Sometimes we'll meet up at the NWS office in Morristown as well.
Definitely study up on your math well! That's one of the most difficult aspects of any meteorology program as it's comparable to any engineering program.
Yeah, it's picked up some major speed.
IM READY!!!!!
I'll look that up now. I unfortunately wasn't the best at math in high school, but I'll definitely try my best.
Any links to Neyland Live Cams?
Great! It's a great way to network with other local meteorologists as well as the NWS guys. As for the math, a good attitude and willingness to try your best is what you need. That attitude will take you far.
It KILLS me!! Heck, Berkley puts out a micro fiber, vented fishing shirt that is orange and white mini-checks and sold at walmart that comes closer than most "endorsed" crap. CLOROX-FREAKING-ORANGE!!! How hard can it be?Once you start looking at the color of orange around the game day experience it will drive you crazy. For example, all of the different orange inside Neyland stadium is all over the map.
Hmm, the next meeting is 2 days after my storm spotter training class. I think i'll come to that meeting.
Great! We'd love to have you. You can email the chapter president on the website for more information and/or sign up on the email list for updates on meetings, etc. I hope to possibly have another meeting up at the NWS around January.
Whoa. Let me take a second to kiss my own arse. Spot-freaking-on.Nope. It's on the east side of the plateau. Look, I'm no pro, but I can usually do better than the local meteorologists and the networks. It looks to me like it will hit at around 6:10 to 6:25. It is rapidly weakening and will be playable with a possible 15 min delay that will happen during warm-ups and as the teams head back into the locker rooms anyway. That should make for a MUCH more pleasant game. It will only last until 7:30 or 8 (depending on how much the Smokies slow it down. Mark it
Here's one that appears to update each time when refreshed. It's not of Neyland but it's right beside it. It's from the UT engineering website.
