Can the families of those shot bring a civil case against Rittenhouse and sue for damages? I seriously don’t know the legal rules here.

I believe they could try for a wrongful death suit. The problem is that the same evidence paraded out at the criminal trial will still be there, including pics/video/testimony showing the actions of the deceased.

Agreed. I'm no lawyer, but even with the lower burden of proof in a civil case I don't see how he's civilly liable for their deaths either.

He's an idiot for going there (just a personal opinion, has no bearing on what the law is), but the facts of the case seemed to pretty clearly show that was self-defense.

It was mentioned it was a jury of pears a fair jury not sure how many or what race they all where but I did hear one was African American.

I don't think the issue was the police force in this instance. It was spineless government officials who did not want to make that call and risk fallout.
