Close quick? Wishful thinking. Smart is gonna challeneg Saban for the #1 class this year. His class this year may end up being better than last years which is absolutely insane. While the Morris commitment is awesome, he hasnt signed his LOi yet. Anything can happen in recruiting. Not saying he wontbstick, but you never know. Is it possible Pappoe finally convinces him to flip? I dont think he will but again, who knows.

Even if we sign a top 5-7 class, we would likely still be a few years behind UGA. Just my opinion.

Yeah it sucks. I will be shocked if UGA can steal Webb. I think he is all Bama. I always thoight Pappoe would flip to UGA. We have been sucking for a decade. Catching up to UGA is gping to take a miracle.

Yes, Kirby has it rolling at UGA. It's about time! UGA has been the most underachieving program of the last 30 yrs. IMO, the best HS football players in the country reside in GA, and yes, that includes TX, FL, and CA. UGA should have been competing with Bama this whole time. The thing is, plenty of talent down there for us to swoop in and get our share.

BOT, I've been a Vol fan for 32 yrs. I fell in love with them the night of the '86 Sugar Bowl, I was 8 yrs old. I thought Fulmer deserved a chance to turn it around, but knew in my heart it was time for someone new. I blame Lane Kiffin for what has happened to our program, the dominoes started to fall the night he walked out, which caused Hamilton to panic and hire Dooley. I supported Dooley and Jones up until I just couldn't any longer, but never was there a day when I thought either one would be the guy to beat Saban. Which leads me to Pruitt. Its a new day on Rocky Top, my Big Orange brother! He was born for this, my man, with the SEC in his crib. I haven't felt this way about Vol football in almost 15 yrs. 2 yrs and he will catch Kirby...and Saban.
Not a doubt in my mind.

Sure, UGA is currently raking in the talent, but as long as we don't slouch, we can still persevere. I'm a firm believer that as important as talent is, coaching is more important. Not saying Kirby isn't a good coach, but my hope is Pruitt will be better. When you can't out talent them, out coach them.

I don't remember who said it, but the most essential truth about recruiting is that "you can sell hope or wins or both", right now UGA is in the enviable position of being able to sell both. We can sell hope right now, if we can get some wins to sell with it, our momentum will increase. Regardless, we are not beating Bama, UGA, or AUB this year, and even if we go 6-6, it is vital that we not lose in a fashion that crushes hope. They say Pruitt is all about ball, he's going to have to show it on the field. If we go 8-4 or 9-3, we will be lethal, we won't be catching UGA for a few seasons, but we'll be on our way.

After the debacle of a couple of employing a couple of coaches who were obviously not SEC level coaches and putting your program’s reputation on the line by hiring Kiffin this program is viewed in the gutter.

And do not think for a second that other recruiters are not bringing up the Schiano incident. Schiano was, and is, viewed differently outside Tennessee than he was during our coaching search. He is viewed as a victim of bigoted thinking without evidence.

Actually most UGA fans have moved on from Pappoe at this point. He seems very committed to Auburn and is one of their best recruiters. Nakobe Dean is high on UGA and seems to be our backup plan. Clay Webb is a huge longshot and Booth just isn't happening.

I disagree completely about Shiano; and it doesn't seem like the coaching-search debacle is influencing recruiting one bit. "How is the program seen from the outside"? Wanya Morris, who by the time he signs, may very well be the #1 prospect in the nation, seems to like what he sees, as does JJ Peterson and Ramel Keyton. Darnell Wright & Quavaris Crouch seem to be liking what they're seeing from the outside, as does Bogle and Moore. I don't think last December has one barring on our recruiting efforts. Pruitt put out that wildfire quickly.

As for wearing orange-colored glasses...I can't say I own a pair. I love the Vols, but I'm also a realist; and there is not a single thing that's telling me Pruitt is not the guy to get us back, not one thing.

Regardless, Richt was the guy that was sending dude after dude to the NFL. Now he’s doing the same thing at Miami. Watching the drop off from Chubb and Michael’s SO to SR seasons showed me who the guru really was.

lol you sure chubb’s dropoff was due to richt leaving? Many ppl seem to think it was a devestating knee injury, but to each their own. I’m pretty sure any coach would’ve looked like a runningback whisperer with Gurley, chubb, Michel, and Marshall in the backfield.
