Since that's the only requirement of an AD, we should be fine. But what if he doesn't give a crap about the Lady Vols logo? :scare:

Has anyone at any point in their fandom felt that we were not "one Tennessee"?
And for those who HAVE felt we were not all "one Tennessee", was/is the problem the Lady Vols brand & logo?

(Still trying to figure out what the problem is that eliminating the Lady Vols is going to fix.)

Hi, Volly. Since no one is answering your question, I thought I would give it a go:). No, always felt we were all one. Had football tickets since graduation (UT) and got LV basketball tickets a few years afterwards, had men's basketball tickets for a little while but did not have the time to do all three. Never felt any separation between any of the teams (fans or athletes), never heard anybody express any either. The first I ever heard any claim as to "separation", "demeaning to women", we weren't 'all one', etc. was when Hart/Cheek/whoever decided to remove the Lady Vol name/logo. I don't care what is done with the logo or name, I just feel the past and present Lady Vols should be allowed to make that decision.

I also agree with mule, Sandvol, and others: I do not believe Hart has been honest about this decision, and I do not believe the current employees, or the current athletes, can disagree with this change without fear of repercussions. JMO

Fire Hart and put in Fulmer for AD! He's all VOL!

By the way-Air Force!

Anchor Down Phil? No way we need an ex Vandy coach as AD. We already have Bama Rick running the BB program. And Bama Dave as AD.

See how easy it is to pull up a resume' and make crap up?

I really couldn't give $.02 for whether we have Lady Vols or Vols. Honestly don't care.

That being said, I think the Lady Vols logo with the block T and writing on it is flat out hideous. Looks like something Pat Summit had to come up with down in the laundry room between jersey cycles in the early years b/c the budget did not allow a graphics designer. Now the Power T is iconic.

Just my opinion.

I think this goes even higher up than Hart and Cheeks if you think about it. They are just hired guns and not true VOLS. For some reason those in true power want this to happen and they are using Hart and Cheeks-two outsiders to accomplish it. I suspect it has to do with being politically correct and how we are perceived by some on the national stage-one of the last institutions to use "Lady" with their women's teams. This is all about political correctness and not "standing out" from the crowd. I would really like to know how this came about but we will probably never know. The politicians and so called leaders who makes these kinds of decisions usually hide in the shadows.

You can probably find your answer somewhere within this group. Someone or a number of these individuals are probably behind this. If this group didn't want it to happen it would not happen.

Board of Trustees | Members

(Also, probably some influential boosters involved in this. This is not just Hart and Cheeks.)

One thing you guys well know is that Universities are a bastion of liberalism. Also, don't underestimate the role of the faculty and administration in this decision. I suspect many outspoken professors and other officials have been after this for years and sending emails up the chain and outside to Board Members about this. They go to these conferences around the country and I'm sure they hear "Isn't UT one of those schools who still uses "Lady" to refer to their women's teams?" And, then they all get a big chuckle out of it. There is a lot of political pressure from the left to make this happen and so they hired two outsider front men to do it-really DePietro is an outsider too. I would love to see all the emails from Dave Hart to Jimmy to DePietro, and to Board Members and Faculty. It would probably be very enlightening.

I pretty much agree with you. Whether we have Lady Vols and Vols or just Vols should be left up to those who have worn the orange. After all, the football team wore black and grey. Neither one did anything for me (sometimes I go on Vandymania for laughs and they have that darn picture up of Vandy scoring the winning TD while the UT defensive man is there in a grey uniform...leaves a bad taste for grey in your mouth:no:). But if they want to incorporate another color, they are the ones playing the game...just have some orange on it:salute:. And the iconic Power T only goes back to the 70s, not very long in UT history, but the T on the helmets, checkerboard end zone, Rocky Top etc. all came out in the 60s and 70s. Think Pride of the Southland is a 50s thing.

And yeah, I never liked the Lady Vols logo much either...but it is their logo, and I support them and wear it to games. If they want it, they should have it. Same thing with the name. IMO if it ever really did start affecting recruiting, we'd see it change very quickly with very little protest.

Bingo. For literally decades there wasn't a single negative peep that I ever heard about the LV logo. Funny isn't it? Well, not so much.

Link to political pressure, please?

There cannot be a valid argument both ways re political pressure from liberals to keep or eliminate the LV logo.

To be clear, I am not accusing you of this. However, I have read many posts from various posters claiming that it is only feminists that want to keep the LV logo.

In your post, you posit that it is liberals that want to eliminate the logo.

Don't feminists and liberals generally agree? I cannot in my own mind reconcile these two POV's. Perhaps I am wrong.

The use of logic will get you nowhere on this board. :eek:k:

For you guys to sit here and argue that this isn't mostly coming from the left is disingenuous. So you're saying this is just a business decision? B.S.

That logo is so poorly designed. It looks really awful on television, just a mess. I do like calling the teams "Lady" + VOLS but the logo is just bad.

One feminist writer sets the WHOLE liberal mindset? Was she elected?

He asked for an example and I gave him one. "Oh no that doesn't count. Give me another one."

K...so you have a representative sample of liberal writers? Or is one sufficient? If Linda Chavez writes something similar are you going to include the Right?
