Has anyone at any point in their fandom felt that we were not "one Tennessee"?
And for those who HAVE felt we were not all "one Tennessee", was/is the problem the Lady Vols brand & logo?
(Still trying to figure out what the problem is that eliminating the Lady Vols is going to fix.)
Hi, Volly. Since no one is answering your question, I thought I would give it a go. No, always felt we were all one. Had football tickets since graduation (UT) and got LV basketball tickets a few years afterwards, had men's basketball tickets for a little while but did not have the time to do all three. Never felt any separation between any of the teams (fans or athletes), never heard anybody express any either. The first I ever heard any claim as to "separation", "demeaning to women", we weren't 'all one', etc. was when Hart/Cheek/whoever decided to remove the Lady Vol name/logo. I don't care what is done with the logo or name, I just feel the past and present Lady Vols should be allowed to make that decision.
I also agree with mule, Sandvol, and others: I do not believe Hart has been honest about this decision, and I do not believe the current employees, or the current athletes, can disagree with this change without fear of repercussions. JMO
I really couldn't give $.02 for whether we have Lady Vols or Vols. Honestly don't care.
That being said, I think the Lady Vols logo with the block T and writing on it is flat out hideous. Looks like something Pat Summit had to come up with down in the laundry room between jersey cycles in the early years b/c the budget did not allow a graphics designer. Now the Power T is iconic.
Just my opinion.

One thing you guys well know is that Universities are a bastion of liberalism. Also, don't underestimate the role of the faculty and administration in this decision. I suspect many outspoken professors and other officials have been after this for years and sending emails up the chain and outside to Board Members about this. They go to these conferences around the country and I'm sure they hear "Isn't UT one of those schools who still uses "Lady" to refer to their women's teams?" And, then they all get a big chuckle out of it. There is a lot of political pressure from the left to make this happen and so they hired two outsider front men to do it-really DePietro is an outsider too. I would love to see all the emails from Dave Hart to Jimmy to DePietro, and to Board Members and Faculty. It would probably be very enlightening.

There cannot be a valid argument both ways re political pressure from liberals to keep or eliminate the LV logo.
To be clear, I am not accusing you of this. However, I have read many posts from various posters claiming that it is only feminists that want to keep the LV logo.
In your post, you posit that it is liberals that want to eliminate the logo.
Don't feminists and liberals generally agree? I cannot in my own mind reconcile these two POV's. Perhaps I am wrong.
