Lady Vols Logo

Sandvol, I'm with you on this....

Not sure why some folks are taking such joy in this. You got your way, no sense in gloating so much about it.

There's no joy witnessing the protestations of blue-wearing middle-agers who view the moniker "TN Vol" as some kind of yoke of tyranny.

Well..maybe a little.

And I can tell you that I have spoken to at least 40 alumni who couldn't possibly care any less about losing the "Lady Vol" moniker. They are more concerned with how our OL is going to perform this year.

I am pretty concerned about that as well.

No doubt there are More passionate football fans than Lady Vol fans...not the point...

But for the Lady Vol (and this is a Lady Vol logo thread) segment of the plan, there are many ticked off alums and fans...

I'm amazed how some of our own fans are taking such joy in some LV fans not liking the change. We're not the enemy folks, just people that liked it the way it was, nothing wrong with that. It's not right, and you know it.

By your "own" fans do you mean Lady Vol fans or less significant, plain ole Vol fans? Clarity is important on this thread.

Who's taking joy? Just because we don't see the complete collapse of society due to this and also believe the right decision was made doesn't mean we are taking "joy" in this. It does bring me joy to read some posts from some who try to suggest that the great majority is having some tremendous issues with this (couldn't be further from the truth). Hate that they lost their moniker that set them apart from the men, but we are all one UT.

It's true they don't give a rat's ass what we think but they also don't give a rat's ass what you think. You just happen to agree with them this time. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

That was expected but overall nothing Earth shattering. I guess the swoosh just doesn't move me as much as it seems to do others. This is much more about the clothing marketer than before. When we were with Adidas it was about the VOLS. No more. It's about the swoosh.

Guys, I accept the change. It was a business decision made by the people currently in charge. Perhaps it will work out fine...

Personally, I don't see a difference from a Lady Vol fan and a UT fan. To me they are the same as the the stripes on our national flag. They all represent us.

If you want to disagree with that, have at it. I'll save my disagreements with a UConn fan, or a South Carolina fan, not with my fellow fans.

Good Day, and my best to all of you.

If we lose any fans because they are 'Lady Vol' fans, but not Tennessee fans, then good riddance. I'm a Tennessee fan, regardless of what the front of the jersey says. And that's all sports, men's and women's.

From a retailer's standpoint, do you want to make 1000 widgets of Power T stuff and 50 widgets of Lady Vol stuff that will be on clearance racks at the end of the year? It's a limited market for twice the design effort from Nike's standpoint.

Women's team monikers have always been confusing. What is an Eaglette or Tiger Belle? What do you really call a Lady Bull or Lady Indian? I always considered these names < the men's. I guessed incorrectly that in the name of Title IX that the women's teams would want to be called the same thing as the men's teams.

That's why it makes no sense to change it....all lady vol fans and lady vol athletes want to keep it....the ones that don't like women sports don't care about the issue.

It's a branding issue for the University and making it all one is better for recognition. The Lady Vol athletes seemed to like the new gear

They use computers now and computer aided design. Save and send the file to Vietnam via internet. Takes about 5 minutes. In between the designers are playing ping pong and Xbox.

Yeah I know the whole branding thing-One Tennessee. Took a room full of Harvard MBA's 5 years to come up with that. No one knew who we were before today.

I have this buddy from Ohio and he kept referring to our football team as the Tennessee Lady Vols. This should clear that up.
