Lady Vols Logo

That's the truth of it. I'll add my two cents about the changes, and about the way they were enacted, but the reality is that this is all aftershocks from folding in the two ADs and consolidating the power into the single department. Football makes the money, and whoever is in charge of football gets to make the rules. And the person in charge of football feels it's unnecessary to have the name anymore. And Tennessee athletics is a business first -- as all college programs in Division I are.

I don't think that is exactly it. I think this is coming from DiPietro and two or three members of the BOT who he has solicited for support. This Nike thing and AD consolidation is being used as a means to execute their desires. This is about being able to tell his buddies when he goes to these meetings and conferences that UT is no longer in the stone age and we have gender equity at our university and Christine Brennan won't write bad things about us anymore in USA Today.

Well though that is not his premise. His premise is that only a few former Lady Vols want the name back. So, then hire a third party to conduct a survey/poll of current and former and let them decide. He shouldn't have a problem with that then since he is so sure they would say they want to be Vols and not Lady Vols.

Why don't YOU fork over the dough to do this needless survey? This genie ain't going back in the bottle. Every Lady Vol team that wears the new gear will be more and more and more on board. Decision is made and they're giving your contingent plenty of time to squawk yourself silent.

There is zero student body support for keeping the passé "Lady."

I'll say again: the campus is quiet on the issue. Let that sink in..

Sandvol, I'm with you on this....

Not sure why some folks are taking such joy in this. You got your way, no sense in gloating so much about it.

Progressivism has inculcated our society. The term "Lady" is abhorrent to the progressive but not for the reason you think. They say it is because the term denigrates women and promotes inequality. Think about what the term "Lady" has historically meant and you'll understand why it is so vile to them.

I wouldn't be opposed to them polling the current student body and alumni as well as current and past Lady Vols. However, I do think the Lady Vols should carry more weight. I anxiously await my ballot. (Let that sink in.)

And I havent met one who has given a rip really.

With all due respect, in talking to people in business, I can say in all honesty that there are a large Number of folk who are not only passionate about the Lady Vols, they are pretty fed up with the Administration's handling of this situation. :hi:

You're "with him" huh? So you think this is a liberal PC conspiracy instead of a heartless business (conservative) decision?

And I can tell you that I have spoken to at least 40 alumni who couldn't possibly care any less about losing the "Lady Vol" moniker. They are more concerned with how our OL is going to perform this year.

If Volnation drops the Lady Vols forum, I won't be back. There's nothing else on here I care to see.

That'll be a HUGE loss....oh wait
