Lady Vols Softball Team Game Thread week 8

Might have caught a break there since rallying against this bama pitcher again may not have been in the cards.

What was stunning about those SEC pitching stats was how much better florida's staff era is compared to everyone else--it is half ours and bama's and well below whoever is in second.

RE LSU, they've struggled to score lately. They got shut out twice by ole miss, then scored 2 runs in the 3rd game and lost that one as well. Let's hope our pitchers can add to their woes! And we need to score and hit more ourselves. I know we're facing good pitching--but you can't expect to win games on 3-5 hits too often. Good hitters have to beat good pitchers as well.

Listening to the SECN, you'd think Bama had the W wrapped up. It was only the top of the 4th, and Bama just pulled ahead in the 3rd. I'm glad they didn't finish it in the pouring rain, though.

SEC Network is announcing the game has been cancelled.

Jim

Jim or Jeff, how does this affect rankings? They don't make it up? What if one team plays fewer games but has a better win/lose %. Who gets the better seed?

What are our possibilities now as far as rankings?

Only rankings that matter are RPI....those were released today and we were 9th....we go to LSU and win 2 out of 3 that number will be higher than 9th

In the SEC, the final standings and tournament seedings are based on winning percentage, not total wins and losses.

In the NCAA Tournament seeding and rankings, the cancellation will have no effect.

Thanks, everyone for the answers.

DP, SEC is percentage; is NCAA seeding by committee like in BB? Or is it determined another method?

Sorry I just now saw your question and see that Deer Park answered it but yes it's as if the game never happened and Tennessee and Alabama will have played one game less in the conference. That almost always happens every season, some couple of teams have a game cancelled because of weather and it doesn't get made up. Conference standings are determined by winning percentage inside the conference.
