Lady Vols Softball

Chiming in from the stands here......but ummmm we weren't even supposed to be here it's been a great run so far.....Bender has shown me that she can pitch game 1 of a regional and let Ashley handle game 2 and game 3.....Maybe Callie will pitch better at home
To me Bender is your #2. Turner unfortunately doesn't have a pitch that she can finish a batter with. She has a great changeup, but thats it unfortunately. She needs to develop another pitch to throw at this level.

Not upset with the team at all but that kind of coaching will beat you in the the tournament. Even if Ashley could not come back in you don’t pitch to Hemphill with benders lack of speed.
i pitch to her but i dont her anything to hit. like i said, benders last pitch was more than likely a missed spot.

positives tho, we found out Ashley can pitch two in a row in super reginals and Bender showed some positives.

Oof. I normally like for coaches to let the big hitters have their shot to hit, but tonight I was hoping we’d pitch around Hemphill. There was just too much at stake for Tennessee, and the moment was too perfect for Hemphill, that I just KNEW she was going to homer if given a chance.

Oh well. Hemphill deserved her shot. Dammit.

absolutely no reason to waste my time watching the final tomorrow --- expecting a Knoxville Regional, but stranger things have happened

hemphill has learned to hit any pitch out of the park. a bad pitch she can still crush out..

She has 47 walks to 12 HR on the season. You make it sound like she's a free swinger when she's not. Yes she can take a ball out, but it's not like she had been fooled in that AB at all.

I will remind you we lost in the WCWS to OU in game 1 of the final because we were stupid enough to pitch to Lauren Chamberlain. Now THAT was a player that could take a bad pitch and hit it out. Ellen threw her an inside pitch at her ankles and she took it down the LF line to win the game.

It’s like Bobby cox would always pitch to Barry bonds usually with bad results. Others would walk him with the bases loaded.

Karen went to talk to her. Maybe Ashley didn't feel ready? Though she's so competitive, it's hard to imagine her not wanting the ball to close out the game, if at all possible.
And if she wasn't then it is what it is. But I still don't hate that decision to pitch to her with a runner on first. Hemp came through. Things could've just as easily went the other way.

Honestly I'm shocked because Turner was one of the top pitchers in her class and she's nothing more than a junk pitcher in college. Don't get me wrong, that can be very effective when you have control. But she doesn't have control and has almost as many walks as she has strikeouts.

If it had been Rogers, fine. You live with it. When you've got your third string in the circle, you don't pitch to the top HR hitter in your opponents' school history (she broke the record on that HR...yay) that also happens to be the SEC POY. You make someone else beat you, and if they do, you live with it.

i feel like what he said was right. Hemphill can pull about any pitch. Look at her homers last night. Both were balls

Yeah she doesn't locate well enough at this point. Maybe she can improve on that and be more successful but at best right now she is a change of pace pitcher that can give you about one trip through a lineup in relief.

I didn't see first one, but the second one was over the plate, just low. Again, she'll gladly take the walk if you give it to her. No elite HR hitter only hits homers only on strikes.

By the time we get to next week depending on who we face in round 1 of the regional Ashley will have had 6 to 7 off days to get even healthier.....we're good yall....just breathe....Also I liked how our offense is coming around at the right time.....Now to drive back

i can live with the best hitter in the sec and possibly the country hitting a homer off our 2-3 stream pitcher. i hate intentional walks and wouldn’t do it. pitching around a batter is fine, don’t give them anything hittable. i think bender missed her spot but i’m not 100% sure.
