This is all on the players. They learned nothing all year. If anything, they regressed. No leaders stepped up. There are none. This is officially the worst Lady Vol team in my lifetime. Things had better change in the next year or so or they will all be riding the pine.

Like someone else said, why wouldn't Pat's freshmen be able to beat whoever Ball St has? And why would Pat's entire team look this bad at the end of the season after she's had a whole year to coach? I could see a performance like this in December, but March?

While I'm not going to be ignorant enough to question her ability- like some folks are Pearl for the men merely barely exceeding their ability- I do wonder about the fact that I don't remember CPS having a team with so few developed leaders & older players.

Does anybody know how we got in this position?

A few weeks ago, I wondered if Pat's success at promoting the overall game of women's hoops didn't have a role in her job at UT getting harder, but surely that wouldn't explain having such an extreme case of "rebuilding year"....

Maybe it's like the men and they don't want to compete and play hard. Either way, Summitt will get onto them during the offseason, and we'll see a much different team next year.

These girls don't get it. They're not a team. That's been one of Pat's biggest problems this whole season. There's a huge disconnect. If losing to that average Ball State team doesn't wake these girls up, it's hopeless.

Maybe this is an extreme statement, but I think if I had been Kelly Cain, I'd have BEGGED Jenny Moshak to do ANYTHING that would make me able to play.

Ah well, they weren't going to make it very far in that tournament and they certainly didn't want it or deserve it. So it all works out I guess. Maybe next season.

agree.

Turnovers and not being aware of things, on both sides of the ball. Twice after made baskets the players were looking around trying to figure out what defense they were going to play while Ball State was scoring.

Cain took herself out of the game. The announcers said that Kelly told Summitt she wasn't able to go. But, it was ESPN announcers.

This team has had problems with youth and inexperience--but this game exposed PS's recruiting and coaching problems in recent years. She supposedly signed a much ballyhooed freshman class last year--but only one of the six looks like a player--Stricklin--and she's playing WAY out of position. She is not a point guard. PS signs a lot of supposed AAs who just aren't very good or don't prosper under her old school system. This team looks like a big ten football team--big and slow on both ends of the floors.
