this is an absurd post

Absurd?....The truth hurts kiddo...When Pearl is gone then the next Buzz Peterson is on the way....No decent head coach is going to want to deal with all the crap surrounding this program...Probation, Post season ban most likely and hardly any players worth a hoot...Yeah that's really appealing to a top coach...We aren't UNC or Kentucky or Kansas, good coaches are not going to knock down our doors to coach here although some here seem to think that way and that's alright..Everybody has an opinion but the fact remains UT isn't known for going out and snagging top coaches at ANYTIME...But hey you guys keep living in that dream world of yours, Say hi to the boogieman while your there :salute:

Can I let you in on a little secret?

If Pearl is gone, we don't get any of those sanctions :eek:hmy:

Thanks mister.. but I actually agreed with your original post. Its definitely an unlikely hire. I just thought that your post was absurd. It was a blatant attempt to make that other guy look stupid. Which just makes you look like an ass.

Having somewhat of a grasp of the facts of the situation would help you a lot.

my thoughts are that a thread about this has already been created. look before creating a new thread.

I mean, it makes sense in a lot of ways. I don't know what it would say hiring a guy who was last seen in college basketball putting Kansas on probation.

Make this happen.

Larry got in similar hot later at KU did he not. Rather than face the NCAA music, he jumped to the league if I remember correctly.

I think the guy might know just a tiny bit @ hoops, but the admins are going to go scweaky (sp?) clean this time, if they are going.

If you hire Larry Brown, you're announcing to the world that Tennessee is serious about men's basketball. For real and for keeps. The fact that had even agreed to come to Knoxville would build more gravitas around our program than anything that Pearl has done. You immediately go from a one-hit wonder driven by a one charismatic coach to a program that's in it for the long haul.

I don't care if he's 70. I'd fly him to Knoxville on Jim Haslam's plane and make me tell me no.

The best possible candidate any team could want right now. How can he still want to coach college basketball at 70, though? And secondly, how long would he stay around?

About two months or so. He might even make it to the NCAA Punishment announcement. This guy is as flaky as they come. The last thing we need right now.

he would bring in the recruits for a year or two, but he's pretty old. UT would need to have a young coach in waiting on his staff.

Tennessee should hire Larry Brown. I think now that Bruces firing is official, we're going to hear a lot more experts weigh in on who we should hire. I know, calling Skip an expert is a stretch!!

I think this would be a good hire. NBA credibility. Tobias and Scotty would stay to be coached by him and use his connections. Would take attention away from Bruce's mess. Name would pop on recruiting trail. Would be done in 5-6 years because of age and probably have moved the program forward even more, allowing us to secure another great coach. Good idea.
