This is an easy excuse. The truth is that you get beat if you think too much and guess wrong. Thinking too much does cause you to lose a footrace. And you can even recover from guessing wrong if you have the talent to recover. Tennessee doesn't have that kind of talent.
If UT's LBs and DBs never lost a footrace all year, you'd have a point. But they lost pretty much every one they were in.
The scheme and the coaching were abysmal. But you and your ilk are desperately hoping that it was the coaching and nothing else despite the fact that you could get plenty of evidence to the contrary by simply watching the games. You can't coach someone into being faster than God made him.
What? You're an idiot. It's not just guessing. It's knowing the assignment and reading the RB's, TE's and whatching the guards and then knowing what to do by reacting and not thinking. And neither bammer nor any other team has the "talent" to over come not knowing what to do or being out of place. You're in over your heard.

That is some first class delusion you have going on there. You're like that guy from "A Beautiful Mind" without the economic brilliance.
I've criticized Sunseri numerous times in this thread. So either you didn't actually read the whole thing, or you didn't understand what you read.
Of course you are going to make consolations if you come on a rival board. You can spill your troll bs, but you know you wont get taken seriously if you say Sunseri is a good coach. You can say that Sunseri is a horrible coach all you want, but your argument clearly goes after the talent more than the coaching.
I don't know you, nor do I know what your motivations or thoughts are. I was just saying what I thought your real deal was. If I was wrong I was wrong, but after the bs you post on here I really don't give a d***.
Yep. Played both sides of the ball in high school.
UT's defensive players are better than I could have ever dreamed of being. But then, they made as many big plays last year as I did sitting on my couch.
I've known for a while that your reading comp skills were terrible so I can only imagine how atrocious your "writing" is. You've obviously gotten lost in trying to discuss football. Show me where I said we played well? I stated by fact that the primary reason our defense was so bad was coaching. You add to that lower than normal talent and you get what you saw UT had last year. For you and the idiot gator to act as if our main problem was lack of speed shows your ignorance of our team and more specifically your ignorance of football.

That's on (most) message boards, though. It's not like you're known for posting reasoned, informed, fact supported arguments.
Way to be an internet BA, Mr. 40 posts.
bamawriter.... why not just answer the simple question. If it is a matter of speed and talent then why was basically the same D plus a few talented players "less talented" than the '11 D?
They lost two players who really made a big difference for the D. A Johnson who was no faster than UT's LB's this past year and M Jackson who was a DE playing DT.
How can virtually the same group of players be LESS talented one year later?
Again, I have not seen anyone say that UT's D is loaded with elite players.... just simply that Wilcox made them a mid-pack SEC D while SS made them the laughing stock of college football.
And while you are at it.... Wilcox faced a tougher schedule.
Good Lord.
Tennessee's defenders would all run sub-4 40s if it wasn't for Sal Sunseri. That make you feel better?
Do you actually think Sal believed that Johnson and Maggitt were ever going to be better than McClain, Upshaw, Hightower, etc?
I'm not saying the coaching wasn't terrible, it was. But you can't coach speed, and UT has some slooooowww DBs and LBs.
But we make up for it by having a QB.....and not some kid that is going to be drafted in the 4th round and play 3 string backup for the next 3-4 years, then be a car salesmen. Aj is one of the worst Qb I have ever seen play d1 college football.
Actually, SEC offenses were better on average this year over last. So that has something to do with it.
And you are arguing a case I didn't make. I never said they became less talented. Wilcox did a better job with average talent than Sunseri did. Tennessee still gave up big plays under Wilcox, but not as many. By being in position, the Vols stopped most plays before they turned into foot races, but when they weren't in the right spot, they never had the speed to recover. Just because they did a better job up front doesn't mean they were any faster with Wilcox as DC.
