Latest Bowl Projections; One SEC teams gets a BCS Bowl?!

Music City payout - $750,000
Chik-fil-A payout - $2.35 million

You tell me which one is better.

I think the likely scenario is that the Chick Bowl wants GA and Music City Bowl wants UT.

Its all about money and attracting the most fans since we have no playoff.

Chik-fil-A has basically come out and said that they want the winner of the GA/GA Tech game. Of course, if Tech beats UGA and then wins the ACC, they will likely get neither of them.

Music City is NOT going to happen. Now that isn't saying that the Chicken Bowl is much better. We were a lock for the Outback if the dogs don't beat the war chickens.

Teams get screwed by bowls all the time, simply because one bowl thinks they will attract a larger crowd by picking a particular team.

UT got screwed in 2004 when ranked 8th they were stuck in the Peach/Fillet Bowl. I think its very plausible the report that the Peach/Fillet Bowl being in Atlanta wants to pick GA to play in their bowl. Screwing UT but opeing the door for UT to play in Nashville at the Music City Bowl, something that bowl would love.

If GA wins, and we don't somehow end up in the Outback or Cotton, I definitely think the Peach takes an 8-4 them over a 9-3 us; the Peach bowl folks were very disappointed with our turnout the last time we were here. Two big GA wins to end the year + in Atlanta = sellout. Presumably, the only reason why they're being coy about us being an attractive candidate is because if GA loses, the conference SURELY won't let them take GA at 7-5.

The Peach/Chik-fil-a has sold out for something like the past 8 or 9 years. I don't remember hearing anything about them being disappointed with the number of fans we brought.

They have been lucky to have some good regional matchups the past several years.

You may be right. It may not have been the number of fans we brought, but I definitely remember reading some negative qutoes in the papers from the Peach Bowl people about the Vol Nation in the aftermath of our second consecutive lackluster, embarrassing loss to a mediocre team. I remember thinking that we didn't want to go back, and they didn't want us back either.

Can't remember exactly what it was. I've tried to block the whole experience from my mind...

It would still be better than the Music City Bowl. Go Tech!

Me too . . . I'll never forget walking out of the GA Dome and hearing the Maryland fans chanting A-C-C!! A-C-C!! :mega_shok:

That being said - I've been to about 5 Peach Bowls. They really do put on a good game.

I fondly remember freezing in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium on January 2, 1988 for the epic clash between the Vols and Indiana.

Gary Stokan, president of the Chick-fil-a Bowl (formerly the Peach Bowl) said Sunday night he wouldn't be opposed to bringing Tennessee back for a third time in five years if the Vols were the most attractive team available.
The Chick-fil-a Bowl gets the second selection out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, meaning the SEC's opponent in Atlanta almost certainly will be a top-20 team.

Climer was on The Sports Zone earlier saying that UT ends up in the Music City. Of course he also says that we go 1-1 vs Vandy and UK.

His on Co-Workers at ESPN see it different. But your right he says we go 1-1 and that could change a few things.
From ESPN

Outback
(Big Ten No. 3 vs. SEC) Penn State vs.
Auburn Penn State vs. Tennessee

(ACC No. 2 vs. SEC) Georgia Tech vs.
Tennessee Virginia Tech vs.
Georgia

what happens when the Outback selects Auburn and Chick selects Georgia which is the likely scenario?

UT is selected by the Music City Bowl, which they love as the game is in Nashville. The Chick Bowl loves GA since they arein Athens and their game is in Atlanta.

Its all about money. And thats the scenario both of those bowls will want.

UT is going to get stuck in the Music City Bowl, which they will love being in Nashville. And Ga gets stuck in Atl which their bowl loves being Atlanta. Its all about money. And thats the scenario both of those bowls will want.
The Peach Bowl has sold out for 9 straight years. They don't need UGA to sell tickets. Also, exactly how many hotel rooms are UGA fans going to occupy?

None but do UT fans need a hotel room to go to an Atlanta game? For most its probably less then a 3 hours drive.

On the money Hat. UT brings more over night stays. the only tickets you can get for The Chick bowl is when the School's have theirs. So it's a sale out however it goes.

I am 90 minutes from the Dome and I will be there from the 29th.- New Years day if that is where they go. I would rather be in Tampa but wherever, Ooltewah vol will be there.

I love how 2 Big East teams get BCS Bowls, Rutgers in the Orange Bowl, and West Virginia in the Rose Bowl and the SEC, the toughest conference gets One BCS team. Isn't the BCS the best?

Isn't losing 3 games the best? It's our own fault for not winning enough games.

Speaking of bowl games. Just got my bowl ticket application in the mail today. Threw it in the trash. No interest in any of these crappy bowls. Sure I could show up at any of these bowls, day of, and scalp a ticket for less than face value.

Don't try it at the Ga Dome. Atlanta PD loves to ignore rapes and murders and throw scalpers in the paddy wagon.

The only time I want to go to the GA dome is for a SECCG. Looks like I may not see that place for a while.

And you name yorself Allvol and
then say you will not go and support the Vols?

I haven't missed a bowl game from when we educated Eddie George and the "All World" Ohio St. team. I don't care where they are The Ooltewah Vol family will be there.
