Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

DJT is a blowhard, but I gotta say the more the virus stats produce a nothing burger the more I agree with his hoax assessment.

An assessment would suggest a retrospective look, Donnie called it a hoax long before they were stacking bodies. Are the stats you refer to based on effective mitigation efforts like closers, safer at home orders and social distancing or because you don't believe that the virus is a threat or both? Something else?

Fair on the word "new". We've heard about this European form for a long time.

However, this is first I've heard it called a strain - but I wonder if "strain" is significant. Is it actually a separate strain or just a genetically different form? If it has different transmission properties I think that would qualify. And, heretofore, I had not heard discussion that we had data supporting it is more virulent or harder to recover from.
But if it became the dominant strain in mid-march then wouldn't our numbers coincide? If it is that much worse the infection and death rates would likely track

What is mortality rate among these plants? Cant be much or it would be in our face

The stats of infection versus mortality.

The virus is hazardous to a very small number of our population. Precaution is warranted. Panic was not.

3. I havent read, has Amash made a statement on the why of his vote? For you to say he suddenly thru his principles out the window I would need to hear the reasoning rather than assign my own.
He explains publicly his reasoning behind every vote.

Should we have seperate task forces for every virus known???

How much does a task force cost?

Are we talking getting business cards made or black suits, helicopters and underground lairs?

If need be, sure. But, obviously, one should NOT dissolve our central government's point group when THE VIRUS IS STILL OUT THERE.

I mean, seriously. WTF. This is beyond infantile. Pure politics.

If they get helis and underground lairs, I'm gonna get on a task force.

Bro, the virus will be "out there" for the rest of existence. The infantile idea is thinking a task force of government numb nuts keeps you or me safer.

I said this the other day and I stand by it, hindsight affords the luxury of your observation. Had we under reacted and scores more people had died the grousing would have been coming from a different direction. What is more important to the shining light on the hill? Hedging on the economy at the expense of human life?

I agree that Jackson Tennessee shouldn't be treated like Manhattan, but isn't it up to each state to set that tone?

Then why did dumb a$$ Donald create it in the first place?

This is like the Mayor in Jaws telling Quint and Brody to go home after the kid on the raft is eaten.

"Everything's fine, folks! Go on back in the water."

Pure. Stable. Genius.

White House coronavirus task force to be wound down around Memorial Day

The level of insanity, stupidity, ignorance and hubris rolled into one is beyond measure.

Our idiot President will ruin this country.
From your link, up near the top, just in case you missed it.

The official said the task force "will be phased down around Memorial Day. We will continue to have key medical experts advising (President Donald Trump) daily and accessible to press throughout the coming months ahead."

Screeeeech!

Agree in parts.
Understandably we needed a cautious approach. But by week 2 or 3 in America we saw the patterns of mortality with the occasional exception thrown in. At that point caution, should give way to precaution.

I dont believe Jackson and Manhattan should be treated the same. Doesnt make sense to me.

Rarely do I disagree with you. On this point you are dead wrong.

If you lived up my way (Boston) and saw all the hearses driving to and fro lately, it might seem more real to you.

"About four in ten adults (37.6%) ages 18 and older in the U.S. (92.6 million people) have a higher risk of developing serious illness if they become infected with coronavirus, due to their older age (65 and older) or health condition (Figure 1; Table 1). "

This is what politicians do.

This isnt comparable to a movie. No matter how awesome it was when Jaws chomped Quint.

Seriously?

How about the obvious: Coordinate a response on a national and international scale - a Manhattan-project-level response.

Come on, man.

This is further Exhibit A of Dumb Donald's entire Presidency: Don't Lead!

Boston should take further precaution, then.

America doesn't need to conform to the worst city in our country.

Like they will continue doing?

But a senior administration official told CNN to expect members of the task force to still be involved in conversations with governors and industry leaders because the White House is aware that leaders still want to hear from doctors as they reopen their states and businesses.

The second senior administration official told CNN that the White House is shifting its focus toward reopening the economy "and putting Americans back to work." That shift will take place over the next few weeks and doctors such as Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci, who have been prominent figures in the President's task force briefings with reporters, will still play "an important advisory role" in the process, the second senior administration official said.
"Members of the task force will continue providing input, though the group but will not be meeting as regularly as the focus changes toward vaccines, therapeutics, testing, and ultimately reopening the economy," the second senior administration official said. "Keep in mind the task force was always a temporary arrangement. Health experts will continue providing input even while not meeting together every day."

The quote is written in a peculiar way. Maximum impact for fear, imo.

There was a response and we sat at home for 6 weeks. We are now slowly going back to work. What response would you like?
