People don't wear masks and gloves properly anyway. The masking is about the appearance of safety more than actual safety.
Proper masking and gloving should be done by those at risk.

I think it’s crazy to ask people to wear masks when we know they won’t wear them properly. We know that it gives them a false sense of security, and because of that, they are more likely to make themselves sick. Which, I believe, is why they weren’t advising that for the longest time. Interested in your thoughts.

As I recall, they said they weren't sure of the benefit, then became convinced by studies and promoted it.

After discussing this with the COS at Children's Hospital and doing some additional research, there is actually no convincing science that cloth masks provide any benefit. This isn't new material, and it's why we've never advocated mask use during flu season, the H1N1 pandemic, etc. Just FYI.

When reports were coming out of China about craziness I was very concerned. When news that cases were widespread in the US I was as close to convinced that those concerns were valid as one could possibly be and waited for the other shoe to fall.

But it never came. In fact now we've discovered many more people were exposed than we ever thought. And the death rate is comparable with other viruses we are familiar with. And while this virus spreads readily it isn't the killer that was advertised. In fact most of those deaths were due to negligence or inaction, I'm not going to debate which one. But it's clear the time has come to open things up and get back to some semblance of normal while doing what we can to protect those who are at risk.

I find it completely hilarious some are pointing fingers at some of us for going out without a mask yet those same people haven't made one single post about Cuomo moving the sick in to nursing homes.

My sister in vet school has presented thoughts of the efficacy of the masks, being ineffective. But she hasnt said anything about it adding risk. (That's not an argument against, she just literally hasnt said anything about it)

We are using re purposed masks. Kills the antibacterial coating. They are using something that smells so strongly of vinegar it's intolerable to wear because everyones eyes water.

It takes 66 days to form a habit. It has been 67 days since we were sent home from work and they starting shutting things down. I fear normal is long gone. People have become accustomed to this half life and I think a lot of them are going to take a long time to come around. Two months ago I did not think this would cause a recession. I severely underestimated the stupidity of our government. It’s possible this leads to a depression. And it’s all by government decree. I would guess this has never happened in recorded history. We’ve borrowed $5T and will borrow more to stave off a complete collapse our our economy. Because it was not politically expedient to run the risk that grandma might die two months earlier than expected. I hope all of this was worth it, because the elderly people we’ve saved are going to have a pretty **** final couple years here.

My current favorite was walking into a restaurant for my phone ordered pickup. It was just pizza last night, but this has happened previously. No other customers in the store, so all the staff were behind the newly made plexiglass shield at the counter. All had their masks on around their chin. When we walked in to pick up our pizza, they all put their masks on.

Donald Trump now claims that he is taking hydroxychloroquine. I'm going to ask an obvious question here... Why take a drug intended to treat an illness, if you aren't sick, and what is that going to prove anyway? (I don't believe that he is actually taking the drug, by the way... not that it matters.)

Now I would question why a doctor would prescribe something like this but he is a military guy. When I deployed immediately after 9/11 they had us on a dose of doxycycline every single day for six months. I didnt get full blown malaria, but some people did.
