Intentionally creating a welfare state is a solid plan to create universal healthcare.

Never letting a crisis go to waste is also another way to take advantage of people in need as you bail out states who oppress their people in the name of a “stimulus package” that is presented as helping the oppressed people. While also taking care of things such as cancelling student debt and other agendas.

It is pretty obvious what is going on.

Different time. Stronger people and a pandemic that makes our current situation look like a minor case of the cold.

50 million people worldwide died of the Spanish Flu.
675,000 in the US died of the Spanish flu

Why? Because it actually heavily affected younger populations. It hit kids under 5 years old very hard along with people 20-40 years old unlike CV which mainly thrives on elderly and those with existing health conditions.

I keep hearing we need to wait for a vaccine. Do we have a vaccine for the Spanish Flu? No and it is significantly more dangerous than CV.

I keep hearing that we may never be able shake hands with folks again and we may battle this forever. Could we battle this forever? Maybe but more than likely not and we have been shaking hands since 1918 so I feel pretty confident that we will be able to do so again here very soon.

What Woodrow Wilson felt in 1918 echoes to our current situation today. Football adds to the morale of the country.

IMHO. If they were able to play football in 1918 during the epidemic and off the heels of WW1 I think our little weak selves should be able to play football and all go out to the games during this weak pandemic.

History can teach us a lot if we are willing to listen to it.

My family is going to St. Augustine next week. We have 2 beach houses rented for a group of 21. We've gone back and forth and watched the FL response closely.
It's a go.
So with 21 friends and family members, what are the odds you come back in a better mood?

Our family just got back from a 5 day trip in PCB and it was awesome! I would hurry up and get y’alls happy A$$es down there and enjoy!

Just beware if you are light hearted to this. No one is wearing masks in the stores or the restaurants outside of the workers. Folks are going on with their business as usual and it is refreshing to see.

Hope you have a great time. Any kids going? The pirate and treasure places are fun and cool. And it interesting to learn about how much earlier the settlement and fort was built there than in the mid-Atlantic states.

I was supposed to be coming back from Italy today. Rescheduling now to same time next year.

And as of right now I have plane ticket and comped room in Vegas June 17. Waiting to see how they do out there before actually getting on a plane.

Yeah, dude, The Mayo Clinic is on the front lines of the culture war. They probably put that article out just to trigger the victim mentality of Trumpist snowflakes.
Rather than name call, I'll simply back up what I am saying with actual facts.
New study questions the effectiveness of masks against SARS-CoV-2

From the Article:

Nevertheless, based on their findings so far, the investigators conclude that surgical masks and reusable cloth masks are both “ineffective in preventing the dissemination of SARS-CoV-2.”

Victoria Secret to close 250 stores. Macy's $1B quarterly loss. Waffle House may not reopen some closed stores. Some of these were in trouble before the virus, but it most likely put the nail in the coffin for Applebees, Carrabas, Krystal, Ruby Tuesday, Bar Louie, Houlihan's, Hooters, etc., many of which suck anyway, but nonetheless that's A LOT of jobs gone. And we just stomped on the accelerator of national debt. Tell me that we will shut the economy down again if Covid spikes again in the fall and I'll show you riots of mass proportions all over the country. "We" got some things very wrong in this whole exercise.
If some of those Hooters girls need support I am looking for a new GF.

I'd read the study before you post about its findings. ACP Journals

They took four patients ill with Covid who were coughing. They had them cough into the masks instead of an elbow. Infectious particles were then swabbed from the outside of the mask, as one would expect.

Their point was that it is essential to wash your hands immediately after removing your surgical mask, not that surgical masks should not be worn.

We all know that standing face to face with a coughing Covid patient is a bad idea.

From the conclusions:

We do not know whether masks shorten the travel distance of droplets during coughing. Further study is needed to recommend whether face masks decrease transmission of virus from asymptomatic individuals or those with suspected COVID-19 who are not coughing.
