Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

You are making my point for me with what you attached at the bottom.

We do not know whether masks shorten the travel distance of droplets during coughing. Further study is needed to recommend whether face masks decrease transmission of virus from asymptomatic individuals or those with suspected COVID-19 who are not coughing.

I'm not sure what you disagree with me on.

They are literally saying they did not test what you are saying their test was designed to test. That is a simple, observable fact if you had read the study and not some media mis-representation of the study.

I have no political agenda here. Mask culture warriors on both sides of this are mostly, in my experience, misinformed.

I know if I went on a vacation with 21 of my friends and family there would probably be couple that wouldn't come back from a fishing trip.

Rather than name call, I'll simply back up what I am saying with actual facts.
New study questions the effectiveness of masks against SARS-CoV-2

From the Article:

Nevertheless, based on their findings so far, the investigators conclude that surgical masks and reusable cloth masks are both “ineffective in preventing the dissemination of SARS-CoV-2.”
I backed up what I said with facts, then called you names.

Also from the article: “This study did not aim to verify whether surgical or cloth masks are able to shorten the trajectory of droplets emitted through coughing.“

It also apparently didn’t do any study with regards to asymptomatic people.

Take it up with The Mayo Clinic and the general public.

Hope you have a great time. Any kids going? The pirate and treasure places are fun and cool. And it interesting to learn about how much earlier the settlement and fort was built there than in the mid-Atlantic states.

I was supposed to be coming back from Italy today. Rescheduling now to same time next year.

And as of right now I have plane ticket and comped room in Vegas June 17. Waiting to see how they do out there before actually getting on a plane.
My son is the youngest at 17, except my nephew's 10 month old.
6 are 50+ - My category
13 are 21-30 (kids, their spouses or dates)
Then my son and the 10 month old.
Fun crew - lots of beach volleyball, bocce ball, and spike ball.
We've been to St. Augustine a number of times...fort, fountain of youth, wax museum, etc.
We did a big competitive scavenger hunt there a few years ago that included all of those places.

Hope Vegas works out and it's a much more "normal" world when you go to Italy next year.

More good news today. Universal Orlando is set to open to passholders June 3-4. Open to the public June 5th.
I work in Orlando for Sysco the food distributor. Our case count is going up every single night, it’s great news not only for locals but for the tourist industry. A place like Disney or universal opening will cause a snowball effect.

Any word on Walt Disney World?

No real word but Universal, Sea World, and Disney were all presenting plans and working with the gov today and tomorrow. At least, that's the rumors. Universal appears good pending final approval. Fun Spot and Sea World are petitioning to open asap.

A couple other amusement parks around the country will be opening this weekend and next.

Looking good for the industry (and my hobby).

I'm debating a $60 Allegiant RT trip to Orlando in a couple weeks. So cheap.

SWEDEN BAD.

"Sweden’s policy of keeping schools, restaurants and businesses open while practising social distancing to prevent the coronavirus pandemic from spreading was seen as bold but now it has now it has the highest deaths per capita in Europe from COVID-19.

Unlike many other countries, Sweden kept children in school and pubs and restaurants open while banning large gatherings and encouraging citizens to practice social distancing.

Initially, it saw similar numbers of deaths and rates of transmission as other European countries without putting its economy on hold, and the World Health Organization said there were lessons to be learned from the country.

Now, Sweden’s daily coronavirus deaths are the highest per capita in Europe, calling into question the success of its relatively relaxed approach as new cases and deaths elsewhere begin to slow."

I’ll take my chances surviving the Coronavirus before I’ll allow a government shutdown to cost me my job, my home, etc.

We were at Disney the week of March 9th-13th. We questioned whether we should go or not, but felt OK with decision upon leaving - we'd just take some extra precautions. And knowing that children didn't seem to be too impacted at all made that decision easier. However, by the 11th, I began questioning if that was such a good decision as the situation began to become clearer. But, in the end all seemed to work out well and we got a nice trip in before being "locked" in for a few months.

Given that people can unknowingly transmit the virus without having any symptoms, it's not as simple as what's best for you. This is a societal issue.

There's a limit on how long people will allow the government to keep them locked down. There will pretty soon be huge demonstrations everywhere telling the State Governments to go fark themselves!

We did a dinner at Sanaa over at the lodge by the Animal Kingdom for the first time on this trip. That was really good and a lot of fun. My kids (5,7) actually ate the Naan dipped in a lot of the different sauces, which was the first time we had been able to get them to venture into eating highly flavorful/spicy food since they were about 2 and stopped eating whatever we put in front of them. Saw a bunch of animals walk through while we were eating. Recommend it.
