Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I actually think golfing is probably one of the safer things you can do. Few people, easy to distance. But should the president be doing it right now, from an atmospheric perspective? I don't think so.

Get out and live a little. Living in constant fear has got to be worse for you than potentially getting a virus. Think about how easy it was to get you this fearful. Sad!!!

You’re too panicked to pass clear judgment on the president playing golf on a holiday weekend.

A lot of people are tone deaf to the current situation the president, mlb players, celebrities etc

Went to grab some groceries this afternoon. Counted masks out of interest until I was no longer confident I wasn’t recounting folks. 23/30 in masks. Traffic is still lighter than normal but noticeably heavier. Some restaurants open with limited capacity but some waiting to open.

We are very close to opening fully down here in Texas. And if folks hand wash like crazy and keep up the easy things like space and masks, I hope it sticks.

There is some evidence based on SARS-1 that this thing may wind down on its own by the end of June. Some indication that some folks might have some partial natural immunity, which could explain the asymptomatic cases. There’s my dose of optimism for today.

My pessimism says warm weather will wind this guy down decently for summer but it’s planted and if the burnout doesn’t happen we could be in for a bad winter. Ok, there’s pessimism. Feel objective again.... :)

Let’s compare population densities of the cities it affected most. That would be a more accurate depiction. New York and New Jersey alone have a higher population density than all of the red states mentioned combined. The top 3 of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are almost all from the Philadelphia/New York City metropolis.

NY doesnt rank in the top 25 most populated cities in the world but certainly out performed them all in covid deaths.

I used to travel around the world installing and repairing equipment. There were times I had to let the machinery run for a while, collect the data, see what my changes were doing before I did anything else. I used to just watch the machines run with my arms crossed and wait. Management HATED that. So instead, I would plug in a cable from my laptop, stare super focused at my screen and play pocket tanks.

Moral of the story. People like to see you working, even if there is no work to be done. Is it bad optics to go play golf? Maybe. Maybe not. Is it consequential to anything at all policy wise? No. I think Trump could easily come out and say he was setting an example that going outside and doing a socially distanced activity won't kill you.

My workplace is about halfway between The Woodlands and Huntsville. When I need to shop at a Lowe’s or Home Depot often I’ll head to Huntsville. So a couple nights ago I went there at around 6 PM and was surprised how busy it was but also at the fact that none of the workers I saw were wearing masks and only a few of the shoppers - no more than 20% - were wearing masks. A week earlier at the Lowe’s in Conroe almost everyone was wearing one. My feeling is, the further from big cities the less worried people are. Isn’t Houston still under a judge’s order to wear a mask when in public or risk a $1000 fine?
