Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don't understand how you can consider yourself presumed positive and have never taken the test. Basically you diagnosed yourself. If access to testing is still a problem, just say so.
Good morning Mick. I see the accusatory you has had coffee this morning.
I didn't write that on my diagnosis, the providers did. They made me stay off work until 3 days after symptoms passed. Access isn't a problem, both occ health and the doctors office could have requested a lab test. I think it was too early in the process for them to deal with. That was when it took 8 to 10 days for result.

The thing they didn't require was a covid test for hiring into an ICU. Makes me wonder why during a supposed pandemic that test wouldn't be required to enter a new hospital.
Why test for childhood disease titres and not pandemic covid19 antibodies?

Basically, you have no idea if you have actually had it nor does your providers. Since your symptoms appeared early in the pandemic, testing was still trying to catch up with demand. That may be the reason they didn't actually test you or the lag time of getting the results would've been useless. I would get the antibody test just to be sure and maybe a little peace of mind.

Congratulations on the new job. Did you move to Richmond?

Yes the tons of people who will become homeless because of this should have no worry. The tons of people who won’t be able to feed their kids. The tons of kids whose only balanced meal comes from school. The tons of children who are more at risk to sexual and physical abuse are all less important. Pull your head out of your ass. Deaths of old people is sad. Long term effects of locking this down are far worse.

Always remember it was about stopping a huge wave that crashed our system. It was never about preventing deaths afterwards

Thankfully, the educated world understands that lives are more important that short-term job loss. SEE: CA shutting back down.

There is no simple solution to a pandemic. There are trade-offs that must occur until a treatment/vaccine is found.

Not speaking for nursevol but she was sick in the beginning when tests weren’t readily available.... if you were exposed or had known covid symptoms then you were presumed covid positive and quarantined for two weeks.

I take it you don’t have a family to provide for and don’t work for a living.

It should be personal choice/freedom...... you should not be able to put your priorities in front of mine or businesses..... you are allowed to shut down and quarantine all you want too.

Thank you!! No, I'm traveling. It's financially beneficial so I can get through my BS debt free. ( so much in my statement right there)

I've never been that sick. The only thing I can compare the tiredness to was mono. Slept 18 hours for the first fre days. The lethargy that goes with a virus is staggering. Also not being able to breath without sleeping on a wedge is a wake-up call. I had all the symptoms with the exception of fever, mine was really low at 94 or 95 degrees. I sent time in hot baths just to get a temp of 97 degrees.
Lil reb had the exact same thing a week after I did.
It's not imaginary, it exists. I just see a problem with the lack of testing for a pcr that was reverse engineered from a computer model China created back in late December to confirm a new virus in the corona species with the original 8 pts. They later got a full genome sequence on 2 patients and a partial on one who didn't even go near the market. The spike proteins were slightly different from the bat proteins they said it came from. Mutation for adaptability? Maybe. The computer model said it most likely came from the bat with 100% matching the genome of the virus corona but only 87% to 95% matching the spikes.
Problem with testing is if you test too early or too late you get a false negative. If you test and the pcr isn't looking for those spike proteins which differentiate covid from any other corona sequences you get false positives.
I've been looking at what different pcrs are looking for... You would be surprised what's not out there as far as proof in scientific publications that our pcrs are looking for the right thing. I'm still looking.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

No. Your individual freedoms can be abrogated in any crisis. Human nature abhors the concept of not being in control... but, you're not. Simple as that.

Love all the feel good care about people line.....crock of sh**. You don't even know your neighbors in your own town/city, hell probably just around the block, let alone care ( or even know or are aware of ) when one you don't know passes away..... comical kumbaya B.S.

Educated LOL....... remember the day when you have nothing and those "educated" mouthpieces are living like drunks in the king's kingdom while you and the other 99% are not.

See the humanity take care of you and others and let me know how that works out.......

Yet, control, or trying to control, is exactly what is being done and forced LOL.......

I don’t live in California.... my courts are ruling otherwise.... I do realize that we have become such a soft and fragile society that we want the government to hold our and wipe our a**.....I would rather be responsible for taking care of my own.... be a man, Monty!

My name is Gollum, but my friends call me Smeagol, and I live in a cave. I'm an Aquarius, I like long walks on the beach, fishing, and terrorizing mankind in search of my PRECIOUS.
That’s what I thought. You don’t do anything where people are dependent on you having a job in order for them to survive.

Yep. Its called death. A vaccine isn't coming anytime soon. The last major virus vaccine developed I do believe was for the rotavirus...in 1998..it took 25 years to develop..

The percent positive in Florida will remain useless until they fix all the labs and hospitals that aren't reporting their negatives.

Yeah, that has clearly been a problem but I can’t quite assess how much of one. I use a 7 day running average of sum positives divided by sum tests to measure percent positive to smooth out the big negative test data dumps. If there are a lot more hiding under the surface that have backlogged for more than a few weeks, then I agree - cases and percent positive don’t mean much of anything.

The problem is that I don’t think development of a vaccine can be expedited to the degree that some think it can. Multiple shutdowns within months of one another just aren’t sustainable.

These two actions are huge. CA normally serves as the harbinger for the rest of the nation.

Corona Shut Down II.

No in-person school this fall. Most every indoor shop shutting down.

Here we go...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statewide executive order Monday that puts an end to indoor operations at restaurants, bars, movie theaters, family entertainment, zoos, and museums. Gyms, hair salons, malls, and churches will also be forced to close in 30 counties. The move comes as the state tops 320,000 confirmed cases, more than anywhere in the country except for New York, where new infections are vastly lower than their April peak. California reported 8,640 new cases on Sunday, versus 557 in New York.

Public schools in Los Angeles and San Diego, California will hold all fall classes remotely. The districts are the largest in the state, enrolling a combined 825,000 students. “The health and safety of all in the school community is not something we can compromise,” said
At best this just delays the inevitable. You can’t magically make this virus go away by that seems to be what you believe will happen with these shutdowns. You’re more like Trump than you realize.

Exactly. You shut down for 2 months and in 2 months when you reopen we will see another spike.

That's not the intent of a shut down. It's done to flatten the curve so that hospitals can provide adequate medical care.
