Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Yes!!!! I gave you that softball and you didn’t disappoint. So what’s going to happen when the shutdown ends? Also, if you’re just wanting to flatten the curve then you want some people infected right? Why wear masks then? What’s the end game with shutting down MP? Are we going to shut down every time things flare up a little? How long does that go on? For all we know this virus is now going to be a seasonal flu virus.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

That is what we have to do, as I understand it.

I don't understand how you can consider yourself presumed positive and have never taken the test. Basically you diagnosed yourself. If access to testing is still a problem, just say so.

We can both presume we had it , if you ever get it ... you won’t need a test to tell you . Give us a shout out after two weeks with it and let us know if you think you should be tested to know . LOL

So if the shut downs work then why were people still getting sick in droves? Look at NYC, that city was shut tight and people still got sick. Why continue to delay what Dr. Fauci and the funky bunch say is inevitable?

Have a little office quandary. My office manager Karened our mailman last Thursday for showing up without a mask after our idiot county mayor issued his mask order. So no mail Friday and after no mail yesterday I went to the post office to drop mail and find out WTF and that's when they told me about the Karen call. Turns out USPS can't make their carriers wear a mask if they don't want to and if he refuses to wear a mask he doesn't have to go into buildings that require a mask.

So I'm pissed at my office whiner for being a Karen but since this is a federal .gov employee I feel I should make a stink since they can refuse to wear a mask and do their job. What to do?

Why can't the carrier just drop the mail outside your office in a box or something... like a "mail box" or something along those lines.

NYC had zero deaths yesterday. People are getting sick in droves primarily in sunbelt states, because they're not social distancing, wearing masks, etc.

Ah, so the 35k dead in NY is because they didnt wear masks, didnt social distance, etc? Got it. Makes sense, NYC is total Trump territory.

I'm leaning in that direction. She's pissed that I refuse to require employees to wear masks in their offices.
Is she replaceable? You’re more likely to solve the situation by dealing with her than the post office.

Until it’s gone no matter when? At what point do you say washing, rinsing, and repeating will cost more lives than the virus?

Until we get herd immunity, or develop treatments/vaccine.

Or until the virus just mutates itself into nothing troublesome.

Who knows. It's a novel virus eh?

McRib and I discussing pandemic last night. Some of her sister hospitals are increasing admissions for Covid. They put those patients in a "wing" or "floor" of the building. The facility in North Alabama has one wing full. The hospital system is preparing to share human resources rather than pay $150 an hour for contract nurses.
Anyway, we came to the conclusion that everything was going fine with the phased approach to reopen. People were generally following guidelines. The change in public attitudes were the protests/riots. Once the CDC elected to not recommend stay at home/masking/social distance orders, the cat was out of the bag. A sizable percentage of people decided if the protesters don't have to, I don't have to.
Good news, even with the increase in cases in hospital, the management of those patients is better. Fewer folks in need of critical care, fewer fatalities, less need for respirators (than originally feared back in Feb).

That's basically what happened as I understand it. Are you suggesting otherwise?
NYC did do those things and completely shut down. However, to be fair, by the time they did I think it was too late. The virus had been there a while and they had no idea.

Monty, those states are locked down right now. We're talking about back in March and April, why should we go back to that when it's already proven it doesn't work

It's pretty amusing how the MSM and state/local governments refuse to admit the riots/protests are the root cause of the current spike.

At some point the solution becomes worse than the problem. Some think we’ve already reached that point. If we keep shutting things down then we will eventually hit it. Deaths are still way down overall and no longer trending up so I don’t understand shutting everything down now. I don’t envy our leaders having to make these tough decisions though. It certainly isn’t easy and there’s no great answer.
