Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The season won’t make it to mid October and I hate it but with what’s going on with baseball I really have my doubts. Maybe things get much better by Sep. 26 but I wouldn’t bet on it as infectious and contagious as this virus is.

If I was CEO of Godfathers I would of eaten a large cheesy pizza everyday. Then as BK CEO, Whoppers for lunch and dinner....FREE!
Met him at conference for work. He was the keynote speaker. Many people don’t know he was also a member of the St. Louis Banking Fed. Super nice, funny, and charismatic guy.

Did he used to sub for Neal Boortz on his radio show? I think that is where I listened to him. Always enjoyed his shows.

I used to occasionally listen got his radio program as I drove around Atlanta. I thought he said he was going to address that relationship with that woman who made accusations during the Presidential campaign, but I never heard it. IIRC he said he would address it one particular day and then never speak of it again.

Covid just got my grandfather this evening. He was in a nursing home in FL. Has been battling Alzheimer's for over three years, so in many ways this is a blessing for him. Unfortunately the virus got into the home on 7/9 or 10, and he's now the fifth resident to pass.

Take care of each other, folks. And if you're the praying kind, please lift up my grandma. She's been with him for 69 years, and she hasn't been able to so much as hold his hand or hug him since March.
I'm so sorry Bama. I'll be praying for your grandma and your entire family.

Hospitals are adjusting routine/non emergency surgeries, and other services.

S yes that line is flexible.

Like here in Atlanta about two weeks ago Covid bed usage was up, but bed availability was also up because they stopped many elective procedures.
It's the same with every hospital, they can flex certain areas to accommodate.

Here you go: Estimation of Excess Deaths From COVID-19 in the United States, March to May 2020
Question Did more all-cause deaths occur during the first months of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in the United States compared with the same months during previous years?

Findings In this cohort study, the number of deaths due to any cause increased by approximately 122 000 from March 1 to May 30, 2020, which is 28% higher than the reported number of COVID-19 deaths.

Meaning Official tallies of deaths due to COVID-19 underestimate the full increase in deaths associated with the pandemic in many states.

Thank you that’s awesome..... that’s exactly what I was looking for..... I knew it had to be out there somewhere.

I keep waiting to hear the status of these athletes. They’ve tested “positive”...are they ill? Hospitalized? At home with terrible fevers and body aches? Or literally completely 100% unaware they ever even contracted the virus until they were forced to take a mandatory test? And would otherwise remain entirely unaware and asymptomatic?

If the story is going to be reported, then give the relevant details.

Sources: Manfred warns union that season at risk

"Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred told MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark on Friday that if the sport doesn't do a better job of managing the coronavirus, it could shut down for the season, sources familiar with the conversation told ESPN.
The league and players recognize the coming days are a critical juncture following an outbreak among the Miami Marlins in which 21 members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19. Two positive tests by St. Louis Cardinals players Friday exacerbated concerns inside the sport about the presence of the coronavirus and whether the jointly agreed-upon protocols are being followed properly to prevent outbreaks similar to Miami's."

“Arizona, one teacher died and two more were infected after sharing a classroom to hold online classes.“

It’s not the children I am worried about

There’s no doubt going to be instances of teachers being exposed at school. However, this instance shouldn’t be the one highlighted. She was exposed outside the classroom and the brought it to the two teachers she was working with. It was a virtual classroom with no kids in attendance. And she, like many others, had multiple other medical issues.

A LOT can change in seven weeks. If the numbers don’t look better in a month, then I think we can get concerned.

Yes, unfortunately one of the things that will change is that kids will be going back to school. Not good for the spread of the virus.

And as others have mentioned already the reality of trying to keep teenagers and 20 somethings (many of whom don't even believe in or care about this virus) away from parties and social interactions around campus is a fool's errand.

California Releases Convicted Murderer Serving 84-Year Sentence Over Pandemic

California authorities set a convicted murderer loose to create more space in state prisons because of the coronavirus.

Terebea Williams, 44, served about 20 years of a 84-year sentence for murder before state authorities let her out of prison as part of an effort by the California government to free up space inside prisons and reduce the risk of coronavirus spread among inmates, according to CBS Sacramento.

In 2001, Williams was convicted of first-degree murder in the kidnapping and death of 23-year-old Kevin Ruska Jr. Williams held Ruska at gunpoint and forced him into the trunk of her car where she shot him in the abdomen. She then drove him 750 miles to Washington state, tied him to a chair in a motel room, and left him with one leg free so he could stomp for help. He was dead by the time someone found him.
