Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I’m not trying to be a smart ass but can’t judge your tone. Are you saying that the test will cause a spike, not the actual positive test?
Seriously, I can’t interpret this. Sorry.

I think there is a significant number of false positives on the tests. I think the health depts know this. The more tests administered the more “cases” come up but are they really positive? We don’t measure the # of positives as a percentage simply as a total. And I’m not even going to address the blatant misrepresentation going on in Fla.

It’s funny how Cuomo handled this perfectly, with by far the most number of deaths....also, the predictions were 1,000,000 deaths this year, were at 150,000, and Trump has handled this horribly..

Can’t make this stuff up....#liberallogic

Remember when the joke was, “if trump found a cure for cancer, the left would still criticize him”...that’s basically what we’re seeing with Hydroxicloroquine.
If you want to have a legitimate conversation I’d be happy to engage but need you to answer something answer something in this topic. First, I think you’re pulling 1,000,000 out of nowhere and but saying who started that but I have something more specific: In April, the age White House COVID Task Force said if we handled this well we could probably keep this at 60,000 deaths. That’s a fact that you can look up. We’re at over 150,000. So, are we handling it well?

Well I would wager there is a sizeable minority of student athletes vaping and hitting the bong. I don't think ciggy's are going to be all that popular among student athletes. Major risk factor.

One habit could drive the risk of severe Covid-19 in young adults — study

Obesity is definitely a risk factor (BMI over 30). There are most of your offensive linemen and Defensive Tackles.

African Americans are at higher risk of covid-19 complications in all age groups.

"...several football players raised concerns about their safety..."

There's about 1200 players on SEC football teams but "several" are to be the deciding factor?
“Several” are just the ones speaking out. I bet the ones concerned would be 50% or greater. I know I would be especially playing football or basketball.

Significant false positives but no false negatives, eh?

Do you think a full 50k deaths happened in nursing homes, or that the rest are just victims of other ambiguous government forces?

I think between the massive number of deaths in NY, NJ, PA, CT & MI compared to other states and the misrepresentation of other deaths as Covid in practically every state, the number is inflated by 50k, yes.

A new analysis predicts 1.1 million coronavirus deaths in a medium case scenario

So far, you’ve said that I was pulling a stat out of nowhere, and assumed that I thought we were handling it well...two things that you are/were completely incorrect in, yet you’re lecturing me about a legitimate conversation? No thanks pal.

Fair enough I suppose but it’s not even the number of positives that worry me... like we all know there’s a lot of asymptomatics. It’s the number of deaths and the high mortality rate of those over 65. The more people catch and spread the less safe our grandparents are and I think we all can accept that as fact. It seems people ignore that. Put it this way, when I send mi kids back to school in 2 weeks they will be around a lot of people and we’re all aware how these Little ones pass around every other virus and disease in a normal year. Should their grandparents feel safe around them or do we need to avoid them for another 6 months? It’sa legitimate question we’re dealing with right now.

JMO....But like MLB it's not about how sick it makes a player (we hope) and it's not about deaths (we hope and pray) it's more about the snowball effect on future games much how it's effected MLB in just the first week where several games/series have been postponed and some coaching staffs have been infected too .....Where players that were infected are now isolated in hotel rooms a long way from home. It's a lot more to it than how sick it makes a athlete.

Hope we have a season....but I wouldn't bet $100 if we start we will finish.
MLB Commissioner came out today he has serious doubts of MLB continuing. Baseball is not a close contact sport so magnify the issue a thousand times when it comes to football.

But you didn’t answer my question. And if you’re that serious about this you can just tell me who claims 1MM deaths. It’s not like I called you a mane or insulted you. My apologies.

I bet the ones concerned would be 50% or greater.

Not a chance. SEC athletes have their scholarships protected should they choose to abstain from the season, and any sizable number refusing to play would greatly affect the narrative; if more than half of student athletes were concerned about COVID-19 to the extent that they didn’t want to play football, you would certainly know about it.

Also asking “Is it worth it to play football?”

Sorry folks.... but this one’s over. We won’t play in 2020.
Many more that want to play. Some are just determined to take the negative stance. We will play football, maybe a few won't play but we will play. I know that bothers some folks but you don't have to go or play or even watch. It's America still. God Bless and GBO!!!!

The 50% is a low estimate. I’m not talking about players actually opting out. I’m talking about players having concerns about playing football in a pandemic. Isn’t that what the report was about?

Big death tolls for the USA were predicted with no precaution and preventive measures taken. Rememberthe national emergency was declared and pretty well implemented for about 6 weeks. That bought time and short term flattened the curve, but then there was a reversal among some leaders.
I used to work for the DoD. There was a lot of work on these scenarios as part of Homeland Security during the Bush and Obama admins. Those plans were rejected by certain present political leaders.
I don't know if you notice news about the US Navy (in particular), but this is definitely a national security issue and has been fumbled. (Sorry to veer off-topic here on this post particularly, but it is an important consideration.)

If it spreads, which we agree it will, then in a few weeks it will have less people for which to spread to.

Reports have come out for weeks now of players infected. And you know what all those cases amounted to? Nothing. Why? Because this thing is nothing to healthy young individuals.
Truth all day long. God Bless and GBO!!!!!
